Marquette Predictions
« on: January 31, 2014, 09:43:58 AM »
Thought I would get the ball rolling on this. I think this an important game for us. We are starting to play a better all around game and this is our first game at MSG in a while. We have six more games at MSG this season so this is the game to set the tone. The season maybe over in terms of an NCAA bid (not counting BET) but I would rather go out say winning 7 of our last ten. I'm not impressed with Marquette but we will as we do every game have a bad stretch and let them back in the game. I think we pull this one out though and start a winning streak tomorrow.

I'm with you Wods.  We certainly have been playing better of late.  If we could only get consistent (less scoring droughts) we might actually turn into a good team.  I'm predicting more (or longer) good basketball runs than bad.  We will still be losing at some point in the game (should give Needs2Go something to watch) but our last scoring run will be enough to hold the lead.

one advantage we have is their playing last night--today is travel day and our game will start at noon tomorrow.  They not have much time to practice/plan for game.

also it is February (at last).  We win by 8 points

I get to see my first SJU game live  in my entire life and this is it.

Backstory: Both of my parents are from Buffalo, NY and my mother and father both attended SJU. I was born and raised in Seattle, WA and have been a die hard fan since I can remember. I'm 27 years old now. I have traveled to SJU campus once to take a tour when I was looking at colleges in the summer, but frankly It was far away and as an our of towner, the campus life in 2003 was not very large. I chose to go to college at a different place, but still followed the program religiously (Central Washington University is D2). Haven't missed a game in god knows how long, but I'm also a GIANT Hawks fan, having grown up in this area my whole life. My Dad surprised me last week with not only tickets to the Superbowl, but also to my first SJU game.

Going to be an awesome experience for me win or lose, first time seeing the boys live, first time seeing MSG, followed by Hawks in the SB.

Come on Storm, win it for me!

Johnnies 71, Marquette 65

Jordan breaks out. For real this time. 24 points, and 7 assists, 6 boards and 3 steals.

Anyone know if SJU has ever played a game in WA state.

I know they haven't in the 27 years I've been alive, was always praying for a Gonzaga home and home.

That's really cool, hope they win this for your sake.

Games against marquette, hoyas, and Seton Hall have added importance now.  I think being in the top 6 is the goal at this point, which will at least give us hope (albeit maybe a false hope) that this team can win three games in the big east tourney.  [as an aside - It would actually be good if any team from the lower half won the tourney, which would guarantee 4 (and up to 5) big east teams make it into the field of 68]

Because we suck and our coaching staff is lousy!   >:(

I actually think it is a good matchup if we can play up tempo and pressure their guards.  If we allow them to set up in their half court offense, then their bigs may do some damage.

Marquette has been very inconsistent most of the season, but looks to be trying to make a move in conference.  I still see a SJ's 72, MU 68 game.
