How  great is the true round robin? Hoping the league doesn't expand any time soon. Some really great rivalries can grow out of this format

Were you one initially? I thought you were a big proponent of it when BE 2.0 formed.

I love the home and home scheduling we have now, but i also want to see the league prosper and grow, and to do that, we need some more schools.

Get VCU and St. Louis immediately. Keep it at 12 for awhile, and if any east coast, basketball only schools begin to have some sustained success, add them.

No.  I wanted a bigger conference like 14 teams.  Accepted 10 as the 3 additions were solid to me.  I think 12 is definitely needed and still might sway back to 14 in my mind.

Playing teams twice is tough.  I think it wrecks havoc on the middle of a conference.  Its tough to beat teams twice let alone 3 times.  Sure 3 teams in the old BE is one thing.  Playing the other 9 teams twice is a lot.

I like the home and home.  It is fair that if you play someone at their place, you also get them at yours.  That being said, I would like a twelve team league.  It would cut down on OCC games but if you drop a couple of the garbage opponents, it would be ok.   The old BE, with 26 teams (or whatever was) had gotten out of hand.  Now the ACC is unwieldy.  Money-wise, I'm sure it is great but it is a bit much.

Would a 12 or 14 team conference be more respected then a 10 team conference in the eyes of the NCAA?

We would play the same amount of OOC games regardless of if the BE is a 10 or 12 team league. The conference schedule would still be 18 games

Yes, because it comes down to the sheer number of bids.  A ten team conference that beats itself up with the round Robin has a good chance of knocking teams out of contention in an already small league.  Being top heavy has always worked for leagues like the ACC etc, and bigger leagues tend to see more stratification between the top teams and bottom teams.  I think expanding to 12 or even 14 is something that will likely have to happen.  The problem is that I can't name 4 other teams that I'd love to have in this league right now.  Even 2 is a stretch.  Pretty sure VCU is one of the ones I'd pick, but outside of them, I'm not sure.

VCU, St Louis, St Joe's, and UMass would be the 4 I'd go after if I wanted 14. I think 12 would be fine though

Sweeping a team is incredibly difficult.  The round-robin format creates a logjam in the middle of the conference.

I think 15 might be interesting several years down the road. Three divisions of five. Play your four division members twice, other 10 teams once. Overall best record gets first round bye.

Add VCU, St. Louis for sure. Go from there.

What does VCU have to do with Va Tech besides that they are both located in Virginia?

WHO’S GETTING UPSET?

No. 12 Creighton at St. John’s, Sun. 7:00 p.m.: The Bluejays nearly lost to a streaking St. John’s team a couple of weeks ago in Omaha. Now, the Johnnies will get a crack at them at home. Doug McDermott had 39 in that game and hit the game-winner. Maybe try to slow him down?

Start Dom on McDermott crowd him and let him stay on him until he fouls out.
