The nice person who scheduled the game was the NIT.  Apparently, the NIT can't get 16 D1 teams to play in the preseason NIT anymore. We came out with a different intensity level in the second half. D'Angelo hit the glass well. 17 boards to go with his 31 points.

Couldn't see game on espn 3, after reading this crap thought we were losing. We are  up 12 with 9 minutes left. We will probably win by 20 plus. After point wins usually a good time to kill coach.

People that didn't watch the game should refrain from critiquing other posters' in-game observations.  You haven't seen what they've seen.
Sounds like someone formed an opinion that's not based with what's occurring on the court.   Why does that sound familiar?   Oh, right.  The same posters tell us this cosch is good for the program, all evidence being to the contrary.

I disagree, reading this thread from the beginning you would have thought we might as well close up shop and not even bother playing the rest of the season. Did we look terrible in the first half? Yes. And the defense was atrocious. But come on, it was a bad first half and we bounced back in the second.

But the problem is, what if the team had that first half against a division 1 team? they would have put 70 on us in the first half and theres no way we were roaring out to 21-0 run to start to half against a real team. Yes, it's the second game of the season, but this is a senior team that should know better than to take anybody lightly. Can't get off to starts like this if this is going to be a good season

You are right.. Have to support and root on the kids..  Guys like Harrison are easy to root for and deserve it.   Hope he gets an opportunity to get into Tourney.

Sad thing is, after 5 years of Lavin we still cannot defend the 3 or shoot the three.  BTW, Harrison's line was 31 pts, 17 Rebs.

ughh the first half looked alot like some games  last year, not defending the perimeter and rotating on defense  yeah i really hope this team goes to the tourney this year because of harrison.  after being suspended, he came and works his butt off every game.

It's good that St. John's faced this team. Good to get tested by shooting & fundamental teams. Build some confidence and wins.

@CBarcaSTJ: Harrison's 17 rebounds are the most by a @StJohnsBBall player since JaKarr Sampson grabbed 17 boards against NJIT on Dec. 2nd, 2012. #SJUBB

Great warmup for a tough Fordham squad

All I ask is can we at least actually lose a game first this season before jumping into panic mode?

Some good things.
-We decided to play in the 2nd half
-CO getting better at the free throw line
-This is the second game where we didn't let the team really get back into the game. As in the opponent is down by four with a minute to play and then they hit a three to make it a 1pt game.  They were pretty much in cruise control.

Crushing Lavin foravk of effort for the first half is a bit unfair. The seniors should not need motivation to start a game against any team. Got it, Lavin left the front court shirt because of lack of recruitment, but still this team should have dominated from the outset.

Nice response in the second half.

-Hope Amar sees a couple buckets fall down tn, we need him confident.

-Will be interesting to see minute distribution and player combinations in Game 2 of this new roster.

How did that minute distribution work out tonight?

No one played more than 40. Sorry Moose, don't know the stats but it certainly was a short rotation and right to the 22 second mark.

Should we start calling moose the other Baldi, or Balfi the other Moose. You two have become pretty interchangeable at this point.

Cons:
This team needs to start better but that has been a problem for years. Rysheed needs to be better from the stripe, if Obekpa goes 4-6 you have to be better than 4-7. And finally Dom looked bad on defense tonight then said he was one of the best defenders in the country. Show me bro, don't tell me.

Other than those small critiques, Harrison went crazy which was awesome. CJ played well in his 11 minutes of action. Gonna need Adonis to get in shape and then be eligible because when Obekpa was out with foul trouble the going wasn't good.

Hope to see ya'll at the arena on Wednesday night.

Why do we stumble out of the gate so often?

Why did we commit 23 and 22 fouls, respectively,  against teams of dubious athletic ability?

Why was the Aggie allowed to limp back into the game late when we had it in hand?

Why were our uniforms blue?

Why was Zendon on the bench wearing a suit?

I heard the staff wanted Zendon to work w Obekpa on how to pass out of the double team.

I might be negative but no need to insult me by putting me on that level :)
