Real Question, How did Villianova rebound when they played with 4 guards? I don't remember it being a problem.
They were outrebounded often, but they had three tenacious guard rebounders and Nardi who was okay. They played seven guys (a crippled Jason Fraser and frosh Cunningham off the bench) sometimes they would go further to FR Shane Clark.
They started:
6'0 Lowrey
6'1 Nardi
6'2 Ray
6'4 Foye
6'8 Sheridan
We are actually bigger than them across the board. That group played very good defense, though, and took advantage of the mismatches on offense. Most teams were forced to go to their small lineups to match up. They were outrebounded the last three games of the tournament that year: 25-23 against Arizona in round of 32, 34-30 against BC (Craight Smith and John Oates), and 49-36 to eventual national champs, Florida (Horford and Noah).
Nova's Final Four team in 2008-2009 wasn't much bigger:
6'1 Fisher (SO)
6'2 Reynolds (JR)
6'5 Stokes (SO)
6'6 Anderson (SR)
6'9 Cunningham (SR)
6'5 Redding (JR), 6'7 Clark (SR), and 6'8 Pena (SO) off the bench.
Harrison and Jordan remind me of guys from those teams. Obekpa would have been welcome on either of those teams. Those Nova teams are the best mode for us this season: small, guard-oriented, and not deep at all. We just have to match their defensive intensity.
