@Josh_Stirn: 2016 NY Lightning CG Shamorie Ponds says DePaul, Seton Hall, Minnesota & St. John's are coming after him the hardest. http://t.co/KM5TWgMuR9

I really like ponds.  Nice player.  Need to land Temple Gibbs or Ponds.

If Mullin wants kids from new york and if Mullin wants shooters then Ponds should get a good look. Im with you MCN, like his game.

Temple > Ponds IMO

I like Temple too.  I've just read a lot about him likely being Notre Dame bound etc.  I don't know the truth to it.  Just think we shouldn't let Ponds leave nyc.

Full game, dont turn it off after Ponds misses first two shots.
*wipes ketchup from his eyes* - I guess Heinz sight isn’t 20/20.

I can't believe you guys didn't know about MSG.  That's the only way I can watch down in Florida.
What did you think, Mase? What about Wilson besides the awful FT form?

Yea that was great, but moose was on to something. I cant watch anymore, used up my free quota haha.

I have been high on Ponds before. Unfortunately I only watched the first quarter thinking I could go back and finish it later. Ponds release is lightning quick and that first quarter did show that he is more than just an offensive player. Disruptive which you alluded too. Probably like 6'1 with a solid wingspan.

I really didnt even notice Wilson in the first except for one nice 3 he hit.

Sid isn't a dominant guy yet. Gets his points very quietly. That should change in time. Ugly form on FTs, but decent looking smooth three.

I don't think I've ever seen a high school kid get into a deep three faster than Ponds.  He can steal a ball from a kid with his back to his basket and get perfectly squared and into his shot with one dribble.  It says a lot about his court awareness.  He'll be able to get his shot off at the next level even if he stays at 6'0/6'1.  He needs to put on weight and he needs to run the point full-time.  Too small to play anything but PG (or in a two-PG look) at the high-major level. Something about this kid (outside of the shot) that I really like.

Jefferson clearly had more talent up and down the roster than St. Ray's which is mind-boggling for me a guy who grew up when a PSAL team would have to catch lightening in a bottle to compete with a good CHSAA team.

On the recruiting front, Ponds listed offers from Minnesota, Oklahoma, DePaul, St. John's, USF and South Carolina. Ponds said that the St. John's offer came from the Steve Lavin staff and that he's not yet had much contact with Chris Mullin's staff since they took over.

Interesting.

Maybe he isn't local enough to keep the good local kids home :)

I'm guessing the staff doesn't see him as the fit we are looking for at this point.

Is he 10 miles from campus?  Or was it 10 minutes?  I'm confused.

They probably want to see if he can play point with McKennon gone. I doubt they'd be interested in a 6'1 SG.
Let's hope the coach at Jefferson realizes this kid could be a monster if he runs the show.  I'd really like to see him take that next step and dominate. He looks like he's not even trying out there sometimes because it's too easy for him.

Agree, I think that's tne problem too.  He has played little to no time at the PG spot.  Mainly a shooter.  Very fluid kid but NEEDS to be a PG.
