Can anybody provide a logical reason as to why our staff hasn't put the full court press on Alkins? Sounds like the staff hasn't even expressed the slightest bit of interest in him. Usually when a top 20 kid plays 10 minutes from your campus you recruit him. Am I wrong?
Not making excuses for the staff's recruiting or lack thereof but
Do you know that he is older than his class? Therefore dominating against kids younger. I know 1 year doesn't say much but it takes away from it a bit.
Also Rawle went down to Florida for a bit then came back up to NY and there was talk that academics where a serious question mark. Pretty sure it can be found in one of the threads on him on either board. Maybe they are starting to learn.
I know for basketball purposes he's not a junior, but I thought that was because he played Varsity as an 8th grader down in FL. Even if he is 1 year older, he'd still be a senior so not exactly playing against kids younger than him. He's not 20 playing against 17-18 year olds. He's still a stud and will be a great college player.
Give me a break with that academics theory. They recruited Adonis from the same school when he was known to have questionable academics not to mention some of the other many guys who were either ruled ineligible or left the program due to academics. They wouldn't recruit Adonis with his questionable academics and pass on Alkins from the same school who is twice as good as Adonis because of academics. What a joke of an excuse. Nice try though.
If Lavin is indeed not recruiting Alkins because he doesn't like Arbitello that is not only childish, its detrimental to the program. Not sure why anybody would think Lavin is blameless in this feud and that Arbs is the only villain here. Both him and Arbs need to kiss and make up for the benefit of both programs
