Still don't understand the logic behind taking 2014 off. When does Chiles start catching some heat?
i have read that they took the year off 100 times already. What does that even mean? They brought in 5 players including Thomas. They tried to get Whitehead. I don't think it was a great class but if Adonis is good it isn't a bad one either.
Article is fair
Tony, who did they bring in who can play. Walkons don't count, nor does Thomas. You want to count the A&J DR brothers, OK but they really don't add anything to the 2014 class. We saw this happening in real time, but it became more glaring when Jordan went home that we did not have anyone who could play off the bench.  You take exception when it's said the staff took 2014 off and thats ok. Up until this year I took exception to anything negative said about coach Lavin. Since the guys recruited in year one I can't figure anyone who can play outside of Obekpa and Jordan. Thats 2 players in 3 recruiting classes. Thats why we are down to a skeleton of a team. If the staff was working it was not fruitful.. Marco couldn't play, Hooper couldn't play, and a bunch of other guys who are here now shouldn't be.  Now if coach comes out of 2015 with a great class it can be figured his way of going about things only effected the 2014-15 season. It hurts the core kids who are here now, but could be enough to keep the program going. If 2015 class does not materialize how many years you figure it will take to be back?

Not that this is some huge accomplishment but I do give credit to Lav and staff for getting Stewart and Henderson to come here without a scholarship when both could have easily went to school elsewhere.

I believe Stewart will be under scholarship come next year.
If coach needed that ship for a real good player would Stewart get it? Of course it's a safe bet he will.

With Doughty and Sampson, plus Stewart and Henderson...that's 4 SG and maybe even Jordan.

PG like rebounding is overrated. :)

yup, definitely need several big east-caliber front court players.  Right now the team projects to have one, in obekpa, and of course there's a chance that he'll leave.  Best case scenario, obekpa stays, adonis is elgible and can play a little bit. The team still needs two quality front court players under that scenario.

Where does a potential '15 class of Lovett, Sampson, Doughty, Diallo put Lavin and Co? ...   Obviously a long way to go, but I'd consider that a fine haul all things considered, especially after the disappointment of Briscoe..       I an also hopeful we can add a big either via transfer or Juco, without any drama, if possible..   Doesn't excuse the lack of effort on the trail last season, but I think we can put the Lavin can't recruit thing to bed...  He can obviously still do it....Matter of effort..  Which is shocking and another story all together...   But , he's still getting players here that we haven't seen in a while ( quality and talent wise)

I'm going to assume, maybe wrongfully, that either Jordan or Obekpa return...  If I had to choose, give me Chris... Maybe wishful thinking.

Reasonable post Boo.  That would be a very good class, and should make anyone think twice about letting him go.
Do I think he'll land that kindve a class? No, I dont.  But if he did, and made the tournament, then he should be given an extension.

Also I agree with you that theres a better chance CO returns than jordan.  I get the sense that Obekpa has more reasonable people in his ear than jordan does.

So you don't think he gets Diallo, basically?  Correct me if I'm wrong, but Lovett seems to be , at least, a lean towards us.. If so.. I like our chances there..

At this point I think CO is definitely back.  Tons of bigs are projected to go before him, and that's not going to change.  Jordan, as we know, is the enigma.

I'd still like Diallo and/or Freeman to play the 4---unless Amar develops into a starter.

I think we get Lovett and another BIg. How many scholarships are open? By my count, 4 seniors plus thomas's scholarship make 5 open. ]
Samir, Sampson, and  Stewart. Does Henderson and Delarosa get one? As for Jordan, hopefully someone gets through to him. Kid needs to be in school. Obekpa has gotten a lot better but he has no chance to go to the NBA. Not big or skilled enough. That won't change with another year at school.

Our only scholarship players next year are

Obekpa
JDR?
Jordan
Jones
Balamou
ADR
Amar
Sampson
Doughty

Assuming at least 1, probably 2, of those will not be with the program next year we have 5 more to give out, potentially 6. We should sign 5 more players at a minimum, and a few should be JUCO's to balance things out. Field a full team and the scholarships will open themselves, as we have seen.

Basically, yea.
and I don't disagree that we might lead for Lovett, but be careful with the recent news.   We happen to be playing in Chicago this week, so our coaches were able to visit.   I don't know if Marcus is talking about us because he loves sju or because we've been in to see him reccently.

It doesn't work that way. Stewart can stay without being on scholarship and from what I've seen I wouldn't waste a scholarship on him. Jones is a redshirt sophomore and in order for him to transfer he  would lose a year  of eligibility. Our only chance to shed him would be in his 5th year assuming he graduates in 4.
