The crowd was listed at 5040 yet on TV it looked like the upper sections were vacant.  What gives?

More entertaining than normal, which is a compliment.  I hope your brain can be frozen to one day be unfrozen to unleash the ferocious prose upon those future generations who will admire your work while wondering, "what the heck do half those words mean?"  I think your brain will come back as "God's Gift."

"I did not see enough of the game to notice Lavin cock anything up spectacularly, although he did call an eccentric timeout after a 4 point mini run broke the late tie and with a TV TO looming." >>> Did you mean this as "stop cock" meaning, or "cook anything up"? Or some other Foad machination I would whiff on with my best baseball swing?

Robert Burns

When first my brave Johnie lad came to this town,
He had a blue bonnet that wanted the crown;
But now he has gotten a hat and a feather,
Hey, brave Johnie lad, cock up your beaver!

Cock up your beaver, and cock it fu' sprush,
We'll over the border, and gie them a brush;
There's somebody there we'll teach better behaviour,
Hey, brave Johnie lad, cock up your beaver!

thanks much.  I did not think coach knows how to cook something up  ;D.

That's tickets sold not who was in the arena. But I noticed a lot of people near me at the top of section 7 left at half. 9pm games man.

Congratulations to Phil Greene the fourth!  He netted eighteen points to pass Mike Parenti, to move into 39th* on the St. John's University all time scoring list.  I've never heard of Mr. Parenti, but he did average 22.1 points per game in the 1955/56 season ( quite a feat indeed in the pre shot clock era ), and rumor has it that he and Lou did enjoy scungilli together in little Italy on numerous occasions.

* I've learned through my exhaustive research into the SJU scoring annals that earlier editions of the all-time scoring list had Anthony "Glove" Glover right around here.  The current edition does not.  Does anybody know why?

According to the 2014-15 St. John´s Basketball Guide Anthony Glover scored 1434 points (15th).

Perhaps the fact that he scored 1083 in his three first seasons is the reason that he was after Mike Parenti.

That explains it.  I was looking at a list from when he was still playing.  That's quite a career Glove had.  That's a ton of points.

Upper levels behind the benches were about the only seats not filled.  Opposite the benches, it was packed almost to the rafters.

And they looked and sounded very into it on the highlights.  5040 announced on a Wed. at 9 pm?  Way to go Redmen fans.  Good turnout.

All and all with the sellout we'll have against the Hall,  the turnout at Alumni has been very good in spite of all the disappointment.

Haven't been to the Garden since the pre-season Nit, so I can't comment on it over there.

Watched him a lot, as Anthony was one of my favorites. A real gentleman. Knocked down the foul that beat Kentucky. I just don't remember him scoring all those points. He was glad to do the dirty work without getting mad or hurting anyone. We never had a team I didn't wish he was on. Iona was very fortunate to have his brother.

Glover wasn't the most consistent Johnny, but he played in, and played very well in a lot of BE games. He was lucky to have had, for the most part, a strong group of guard who could get him the ball.
