Mike is as plugged in and as respected in his field as any..  He's not reporting garbage....

They are not "set" on anything lol.   That's the whole point.   No decisions have been made.

At least Dave seems to get it.   Decoucey might be reputable, but he doesn't follow the team.  He doesn't have any sources in the SJU administration or with any boosters.
Who he does have a relationship with is Lavin's agent who represents a number of coaches in the business.    So where do you think his information is coming from?
Thats not to say this is something sinister ... it's not.
Its just how the game is played.   Lavins agent is trying to get him some press and push the debate towards an extension.

Because I know that they haven't had contract extension talks.

Just a guess, but I think he gets the axe tonight or in the morning so it could be absorbed by the NCAA tourny

Everyone is hearing completely different things. Obviously some people have their own agendas here and are giving out bad information to the media outlets and to posters on this site. They can't be firing him tomorrow and be in negotiations at the same time, this is getting to be stupid now. Make a decision St. John's we basically have no team next year Lav or new coach has to get going here.

Why would the school want to bury that news?

I'm pretty certain I know who both Zach and Mike's sources are. I know that both of them believe their sources to be correct.

A conclusion today or in 2 weeks doesn't make a difference in a basketball sense. The only people crying are diehard fans and local media which shouldn't dictate what the school should do.
