Final Grade

Now that a little time has passed I think we can give Lavin his Final grade.

Going with solid B. Gets graded with a curve because of who he replaced.

Here are my grades for other Louie replacements

2nd most successful coach post Louie and did not do anything to harm the program

I was for keeping Lavin.  So far I am ecstatic with the new regime.   I think many guys were terribly unfair to Lavin....Despite guys insisting CO and Jordan were leaving....right now we'd have CO, Sampson, and Jordan.   I'd give him a B too.

Just because he said the year wasn't bad doesn't mean he said it was a good year.

Correct about being too easy on Jarvis, but he did make the Elite 8 (albeit after being handed a very talented roster).

If anyone is giving Norm anything but an F because he replaced the "evil" Jarvis, then Lavin should get an A for replacing a nincompoop

Yeah, the board has been a bit difficult to read in the last couple of days.

Best coach we have had since Louie.  Graduated players, no embarrassments, went to tournament; just did not balance the recruiting. 

Robert Morris?

Brian - D for Disappointing. Having Felipe and Z should have brought greater results.
Fran- Incomplete- We could have been much better if he had not fouled up.  On the court and recruiting, I would give him a B+/ A-.  For what his dismissal did to our Program in the long run a F for #$%@#& us up.
Jarvis- F for forgetting to coach and to care about his players and our Program.
Norm- F for having no clue how to coach and recruit (without having Coach Self behind him).
Lavin- B for bettering our Program.  Yes, he went 2-9 in tournament play.  And yes, he pulled a Jarvis and stopped recruiting after his first year. However, we moved slightly forward as a Program.

I give Lavin a B overall. I think losing Mike Dunlap hurt the team.
