A healthy 1.1 K/IP ratio. Keeps working on the art of pitching, and he'll be up before we know it. i pray for his continued good health.

Great Post article on Amir--at the time of his "transfer", I thought it was a way for him to really find out about his Baseball ability and make a choice of which road to follow.  It looks like he has made the right choice.  I will continue to follow his career and hope to see him when he pitches here in the majors.  Also will be interested as to how his arm/elbow goes.  So many kids end up having Tommy John surgery; will his "non pitching" in his teen age years reduce the stress on his arm/elbow and allow him to be injury free?

My personal non-scientific opinion is that its little league coaches telling kids to (and kids on their own decision) throwing junk at such a young age that results in these early TJ surgeries.  Listen to Pedro Martinez or Roger Clemens - both have stated they never threw any curveballs or other breaking balls before they were 16 years old.  Meanwhile I remember facing kids at 11/12 who were trying to throw some sort of curve at their coach's behest.  Gotta think there is a connection - my father always said that growing up in the 50s/60s coaches wouldnt even let them try throwing anything but fastball til older (he ended up pitching in college), whereas now that is far from the case.  Combine that with this TJ epidemic...seems to make sense.

I hope Amir's time off helps him in a similar way.

Also hoping the best for Amir in his baseball career..  Health , most importantly... Would hate to have to read the Braziller article blaming Lavin for AG's  TJ surgery ( god forbid)

Reds are at Yankee Stadium July 25 and 26, and at Citifield September 7-10 (which is after rosters expand, so a great chance to see him, then).

Cincy in town:

July 25 & 26 @ Yankee Stadium

September 7-10 @ Citi Field

Sucks that the YS series is only 2 games and the Citi series is in September where he could possibly be at an innings limit.

"You know what? You learn a lot about young pitchers the first time they get punched in the teeth with a tough outing and how they respond the next time," Reds manager Bryan Price said. "It really becomes that difference-maker: how you respond to adversity, how you respond as a player to struggle. It's one game. Who would have thought he'd come in and pitch three such impactful games to start his career? And then he gets roughed up in Milwaukee. I didn't have any concern at all that he wasn't going to bounce right back."

Amir Garrett  |  SP  |  CIN

Garrett is expected to be recalled from Triple-A Louisville on Thursday to start against the Cubs, C. Trent Rosecrans of The Cincinnati Enquirer reports.

Spin: Garrett is set to rejoin the Reds' rotation on Thursday after being sent back to Triple-A and making one appearance there. He struck out every batter he faced during the two-inning outing. We'll see how the 25-year-old fares in his second stint with the big-league club this year, as he spun a 4.25 ERA with a 28:14 K:BB through 36 innings (six starts) earlier in the year.

Wow...that's pretty legendary charging the dugout by yourself.
