I was told he's been practicing so injury is not an issue

If no word by NCAA this season, would he be automatically eligible next year or do they have to give a ruling for that as well?

As long as he completes his school work and is in good academic standing he can play next season

Is there no more hope for him to be cleared?  Everyone was so gung ho he would be cleared and not a peep.  Granted, I think someone posted something that he would be eligible by big east play, so maybe that's it.

I said if he were to be cleared it would be around 1-3 conference games.

Speculation or you know something Zach B didn't? I would've thought Zach was getting info from staff and find it odd decision is 5 days later than expected and countinng

If it is after the 3rd conference game, just redshirt the damn kid.  And he's bothered by a nagging injury.  It should really be a no-brainer by that point.

Administration was hopeful to get word last week. I think this is all around grades and my guess is NCAA is reviewing once again. Interviewing professors, making sure he went to class, etc.

He should be able to do what he wants. If he wants to play, let him play. If he wants to sit for a year, let him sit.

At what point does the possibility of him playing a fifth season in a meaningful year and restoring some balance to an obscenely unbalanced roster trump playing in a lost season?  14 games?  12 games? 9 games? We have the worst roster balance in the entire country if he plays this year.  We could have only ONE natural junior OR senior in 5 years (Ponds).

If he's not cleared by mid March, I'd say wait until next year.

There is no nagging injury.  He's been practicing fully for awhile now.

I don't expect him till next year. I suggest everyone else think the same way. If a miracle happens great but otherwise get through this season and hopefully next year things start to get better.

I understand your point, from the school's/program's perspective.  But the kid chose to come to this school, so the school should look for what is best for this kid.  If he thinks that what's best for him is to play this year, then he should play.

I presume (a big presumption) he wants to play professionally somewhere.  A player has such a limited window to maximize his potential that he should have the right do what he wants - what's good for him, even if it goes counter to the balancing of when scholarships free up.   This is very clear-cut to me.  Let him play if he wants.

How does it look to future recruits if our top ranked recruit wants to play but we insist on redshirting him?

Cmon Marillac...you're better than this.

Marillac you are vastly overstating the importance right now of the balance of the roster 4 years down the road.   Too many unknowns can occur between now and then.
There will be turnover.

Whoever replaces Mvouika, Johnson, and Balamou will be seniors along with Ponds.   Whoever replaces Christian Jones will be a junior.
