Just for the record, I understand the risks a program like SJU has to take to get talented kids to come. I didn't blame Lavin, so I am certainly not going to fault Mullin. Just as a fan it gets frustrating.

Just for the record, who wouldn't agree with that. :)

I am hoping that he is our 4th best scoring option next. Not a knock on him. I just hope lovett, ponds, and Ahmed are better.

Wouldn't be surprised if 2 of the 3 never make it to the court.

 No one should be surprised.
I can't take anymore of this . I hope not. Even though Lovett can't play, can he transfer to another school without sitting out? Ponds signed? Ahmed seems to really want to be here. What is issue?

Would have to sit out a year per Paultz
Being a SJU fan means being skeptical of anything good
After the last decade, I won't personally be comfortable that anyone will be here until they play a game.

What could go wrong?

You're just throwing sh*t against the wall now Baldi.  Just because Ponds is a PSAL kid and the results haven't been too positive the last five years doesn't mean he is a risk.  Look at all the Lincoln kids that qualified for SH.

Ahmed will be fine.  He needs 48 credits and a 2.0 GPA to be qualified. His school, conference, and the NJCAA require at least that to be playing  now, so we know the GPA is good. He needed at least 24 earned credits to play the fall semester -- which he did.  He is now playing in the spring semester.  What reason is there to doubt him?  Hutchinson has a great rep getting kids qualified. He'll be qualified don't you worry.

All Lovett has to do is take care of business in the classroom.  I don't know who the hell talked about him possibly playing if his grades were good 1st semester.  When has that been the case with the NCAA?  Ever?  He has no reason to leave SJU and I trust the staff will stay on top of him to make sure he takes care of his school work.

That all sounds very reasonable which is why most of it probably won't happen ;)
BTW Sima supposedly out 4-6 weeks

If you have a minute, check out Zagoria's piece on how SJU landed Mussini.  A certain poster's head is going to explode.  You'd think that Derrick Wrobel, a name I'd frankly never heard, was our lead recruiter and that Lavin was still our coach.  Hilarious!  No mention of Looie's 2 hour conversation with the parents, or Mussini's own comments that playing for HOFer Mullin was the deciding factor in his coming to St. John's.

Lovett had a good first semester.  He'd have to fall off the rails academically to not be eligible next fall.

This whole conversation is ridiculous in that there is no indication whatsoever that there are issues with those three players specifically, but on the other hand, is totally reasonable given past experiences.  I expect this staff to change program culture in this respect.  All this said, I would absolutely be surprised if 2 of the 3 are ineligible, as Baldi suggested.

Mussini is the teams leading scorer who also has to find his own shot because no one else on the team can handle that job. So yes, he is the best player on the team. Lovett, Ahmed and Ponds are question marks, we have no idea what we will get from them. Sure, they light up the Juco ranks, PSAL and street ball leagues. College ball is a whole other story. we know what we got in Mussini and it will get better
