Losing Amar hurts. He was a good teammate and recruiter, plus he was one of our biggest and strongest guys. If Jones leaves as many believe, we are left with the skinniest team in the Big East. Hopefully the staff can being in a strong transfer since  our strength and conditioning staff can't do what every other staff at top programs does.

Pretty selfless of AA to actively recruit RF, who plays the same position, knowing he is likely to transfer.

Should see some transfer candidate names in next few days I sense.

Are we still talking to Ferguson, Freak Jr. and the moose from Arkansas State. Would you say our first recruit would come from those three ?

Forget Ferguson is my read. We'll get detail on targets very soon.

I always think it's hilarious when people here and on twitter will praise a kid, or say he "gave effort" or "tried" and 100 other excuses upon the kid transferring. Get a grip. Amar was not a good player, he chucked the ball and made horrible, boneheaded plays the two years he saw the court for St. John's. He won't be missed, nor will we lose anything by him transferring.

Good luck Amar.  This is a case where him transferring benefits all involved, in my view.  He will play more minutes, and have more room to develop, at the appropriate level.  As I've said before, the coaches have an obligation to let these kids know where they stand on the totem pole.

Good luck to Amar.

Manhattan College would be a nice fit
Guessyou don't want him for the Gaels.

Jones.

Eligible now. Need bigs

Good luck to Amar. Had to deliver one of the best moments of a horrible year that most people won't forget. Hope he is successful.

Well you pretty much described the whole team with your criticism.  Guess they can all transfer and none will be missed.

He could pair up with M.L. Carr.

Plus he might transfer to a school that will make the NCAA tournament in the next few years.

My hope is he would have stuck around and turned into the player who beat Syracuse for us consistently in his senior year.  We never would have beaten the Orange without him.  Good luck!

Zach B re SJU transfers;

@BeastmodeBags90 I believe they'll take 3, 2 sitouts one grad

So Kostas is an inevitable redshirt?

Good luck to Amar. Maybe not the most productive, but certainly appeared to be a good teammate.

No, KA will be a Freshman.  What Beast meant was the 5th year transfer won't have to sit out, but the conventional transfers all have to sit a year.

We lose continuity and he wouldn't be the first player who left that improved a great deal after leaving.

Like Mussini, he was that guy when no one guarded him.

For those saying good riddance, there was this guy Cedric Jackson, and he was pretty terrible. Short memories.

Right, so an inevitable redshirt freshman which I agree with. When considering the additions of Darien, Tariq and the unknown 5th year big, to compliment Kass and Sima, there's no minutes left for the likes of a Kostas. Especially when Rich or Bash are long enough to play stretch 4's if CM decides to go with smaller lineups. Unfortunate but prideful career for CJ, time has passed him by with this program, but he'll always be a silent warrior in my eyes who improved each and every year. It'll be much tougher to see his name pop up on the transfer list when compared to Amar, who was clearly out of his league.
