Heron’s funk has really been killing them. If he plays ok, they probably win the last two. His shit just isn’t falling, so he’s pressing and making bad plays in defense too.

I thought the worst sequence yesterday was when he passed up an open three in the corner, dribbled under the basket then picked up is dribble and jumped (with nowhere to go with the ball), he then through a pass into traffic under the basket. Champagnie (I believe) actually bailed heron out there because he somehow managed to gather the pass and get fouled, but it was a really bad sequence for heron.

I think it’s mental for heron, he got the ball in spots where he could make plays, they weren’t doubling him or denying the ball. Also, given how poorly he was playing, the defenders were giving him some room to operate with the defense focusing on Figueroa. I hope he can turn it around, because there’s certainly a lot of pressure on him this season as he hopes to pursue a pro career. He seems like a really good kid and teammate. He wasn’t loafing in defense or feeling sorry for himself.

That technical for flopping thing is a riot. I didn't know that existed. Watching flopper king Hurley getting angry about it was hilarious. I think the Kryschewski era is officially over.

Like Nick Van Exel would always say the best way to get out of a shooting slump is keep shooting.

Regardless of how poorly Heron has been playing the coaches need to run some sets for him to get easy looks. He's really good driving with his left and can catch in the post. No reason why he should only have 8 shots in a game when multiple guys have 10+

Hurley is an  enemy for life after what happened in April.

WHY..? if you believe he did anything wrong in regards to his St. John's discussions, you don't know what happened.

So that begs the question of what did happen beyond what’s been reported publicly?

House should have been ejected the second time he did it. The rule is a joke. They actually gave him a warning.

There is not a single person that is a fan of this program that has any clue what happened with him during our search.

I heard from every possible angle inside and outside and everyone was wrong. It happens, but anyone that now claims to have direct knowledge on that is simply relaying extremely removed hearsay.

What happened is we are a joke of a program and we can’t compete with a school like ASU for coaches. It’s not even close. Hurley never had any interest in us. The pay raise was nice. Big East schools can’t compete with decent programs from power five conferences for coaches anymore.

Let’s remember this going forward when everyone calls for Anderson’s head.

What coach would leave a college town with better weather and lower taxes to live in NY and coach in a slowly dying conference? Fraschilla activybtried to leave here for state schools when we were good, the Big East was king, and he had Final Four talent.

That has always been my point regarding our coaching hires. Who else are we going to get? Sure Lavin and now CMA have their short comings, but they are good for us.

As long as there are sport network’s in need of content and will continue to shell out money to the conference we’ll be alright. Getting UConn back is beneficial to the conference.

Hurley shouldn’t have been the target. We could have gotten him before mullin.
In the end it worked out. His dad is a great coach and he was a great PG at duke. Those are the reasons people were excited.
Joke of a program is nonsense. Maybe we were a joke for the last 4 years. That’s over. When Anderson leaves. We just have to make a good hire. Butler, Xavier, and other big east schools lose coaches all the time. They ALWAYS make a good hire. No figureheads.
Plenty of us heard plenty of rumors. My favorite and the one I choose to believe. Is mullin wasn’t coming back even if he made the sweet 16.

Massive 1st rate media exposure; an attendance and donation bonanza; local star pre-season conference player of the year; rising from the ashes with climbing win totals every year and an Ncaa tournament bid.

The jokes on you.

Last year I was at the near sellouts vs providence and Georgetown. It was an awesome experience, basically until the games started.
Mullin did do the something positive that I thought was impossible. He got fans to come to Carnesecca arena. Marquette was awesome. Doesn’t take away the absolute beat down that happened in the big east, which was also a sellout.
In previous years I can remember sellouts  vs creighton and Xavier that were absolute massacres for the home team.

Preseason player of the year- wow imagine having that and finishing in 7th place? In Mullins defense ponds didn’t fully show up either. Check out the kid from seton hall this year. Don’t compare ponds (going through motions) with Myles Powell. It’s just not fair.
Another thing mullin and staff did well were the free throw shooting. By far the best that I can remember.

Ok. I'll soften my stance.  You went to the casino and I didn't. Perhaps you're a better fan than I.

Agree, it's not necessarily the poor shooting numbers; its the poor, rushed shot selection, driving into four defenders and not even thinking of passing out to a wide open teammate, turnovers. Probably still have to start him, but cut the minutes.

The mistake was thinking we had a chance at Hurley. The mistake is firing coaches for “just” being good.

If we extended Jarvis and supported him we would have been to the dance 10-15x this century instead of four. It fans wanted better, but what did we get? Norm f*cking Roberts!

This last coaching search should have scared the sh*t out of every fan of every Big East program.

Some guy from Loyola-Chicago turned us down. A coach from a mediocre program in a bad PAC-12 conference turned us down who coaches the third most popular sport at the school turned us down. A former player and MAAC coach removed his name from consideration.

We praise Cooley from a distance, but he’s a less arrogant Jarvis at best.

Honestly don’t get what you are trying to accomplish. It’s kind of amusing. The maac coach was interested, I know that because I asked him. Saw him in a deli, really nice guy spoke to him for about 10 minutes. I like defense so he wasn’t my pick. Don’t understand why the school wasn’t interested. Not my type of coach but he would have been good. HARD WORKER!
The Loyola coach went to the final 4 and would have been a HUGE upgrade on what we had. He didn’t want to leave the mid west, and since he is QUALIFIED he thinks he will get Another chance. What was embarrassing about talking to him about the job?
Our amazing AD used his contacts and hit a home run with Anderson. Nothing embarrassing about him. The guy has come in working. All you can ask for. If he is here 5 years we will win 100 games. 7 years close to 150.
20-59 with 40 of those losses coming by knockout is embarrassing. Getting killed in the garden with a full house on national TV 3 years in a row during the big east tournament is embarrassing. I could go on and on.
Was Michigan embarrassed when Cooley told them no? They hired their QUALIFIED hero to coach the team.
Patrick Ewing was on the Greenberg and Dakich pod cast today. Worth a listen. He isn’t going to be shit canned any time soon. Ewing is working hard!
Our school isn’t cursed. We are no laughingstock. Plenty of winning tradition here. The next 5/7 or more years will be fun. But selfishly I hope you guys keep this up. So funny!

Jarvis was a arrogant prick. The issue isn’t that we replaced Jarvis. The problem is we hired Norm. The issue wasn’t that we let Lavin go, although I do believe he would have been successful here, it’s that we hired Mullin.

We should have made an offer to Pitino, maybe we did who knows. If we couldn’t get Pitino then CMA was the best of the coaches available.
