I watched Albany lose to Hartford yesterday. Hartford's best player, by far, is grad transfer Malik Ellison. He's averaging a double double and the announcers were postulating that he'll garner strong conference player of the year support in the America East.  He had a huge effort yesterday and put up big numbers.

Ellison is rebounding well at this level but curiously he is hitting only 11% of this 3 pointers.  Looks like he has lost all confidence with the 3.

He didn't need 3's in this one. He scored 31 with 12 boards.

This is why we should never look to force out freshmen and sophomores that stink like we do. We should always hope they stay to become seniors and 5th year seniors.

This team definitely needs another guard that can’t shoot.

Can always use a high turnover 11% 3 point shooter.

He plays at Hartford in one of the worst conferences in the country. He could average 30 10 and 10 and it would mean nothing for what he could do at this level.

I finally agree with a Marillac post...LOL

If we played America East, you might have a point.

St John's is one of those rare last place teams that couldn't use a 6'6" 220 pound 23 year old grad transfer who averages 10 rebounds a game as their eighth man.

Ellison may be the worst guard we have ever had. Great idea.

But he could probably average 15 rebounds on a girls middle school team so we should want him back.

As a freshman Ellison averaged 7 points, 2.5 rebounds, 2.6 assists, 2.5 turnovers, 37 percent FG and 31 percent from three.

As a senior Rutherford averages 5 points, 2.5 rebounds, 3 assists, 2 turnovers, 33 percent FG and 16 percent from three.

Presumably he's the second worst.

Another example of you knowing nothing about basketball. Ellison probably has more talent than Rutherford. Ellison may be the dumbest guard we have ever had. Rutherford plays within himself. He is very limited. But at times very effective.

Big game tonight. Nick needs to bring it. Malik never played in a big game here. Or anywhere for that matter.

We could have used Ellison his last two seasons. That is not subject to reasonable debate.

Of course the last 2 teams could have used Ellison. Brian Trimble was the 6th man.

I’m glad to see that the kid has become a player. I never wanted to see him leave, but he didn’t believe in the staff. So, that was it.

Mike rice belonged no where near a big east bench last year. Still he his .250 winning percentage would have helped.

As bad as Ellison is he would have helped also. Stick to Oscar Wilde posts.
