The biggest problem with Anderson is that he is always looking to find a daimond in the rough, polished diamonds he didn't polish seem to scare him away. He needs to go harder with a better attitude toward the top talent.

Nobody prefers diamonds in the rough to known commodities when constructing a roster. The reality is that the price tag on those undervalued recruits is more in line with Anderson's philosophy on the matter. As long as this remains the case, we are unlikely to secure talented recruits in demand at the high major level. Does not seem sustainable despite some initial success locally with this approach.

Anderson recruited for Arkansas an for most part recruited diamoms in the rough with the exception of State kids who wanted to be Razornacks, Musseman has taken over an recently landed 3 top scorers off of 3 different teams, same program different recruiter.  I think that is proof enough about Anderson's recruiting style, ability or attitude, whatever the issue it dont bold well for tons of success. I know Mike can win with great talent, but getting all the parts together ain't happening, if it does it want  happen often enough.

This is really it in a nut shell. I think the fact he couldn't get it done in his own backyard only makes it that much harder in NYC. It was a concern from jump street. Truthfully he's exceeded my expectations so far but it's still an uphill battle.

I don't think he's ahead of schedule. Recruiting is still below par and team is completely new. I don't have much faith every player is going to exceed expectations.

No such thing as ahead of schedule, the first year is free, after that the resources are there to build a team, old fashion to think you need 3 to 5 years to build, look at how even the best teams rosters turn over annually.  16 an 10 is not a good record an is not ahead of schedule, unless the bar is set low.

I agree the recruiting needs to improve, but this can still be the first coach since Carnesecca to rebuild the broken relationships with NYC basketball that St.John

Has certainly made a commitment to recruiting locally and has proven to be successful in development. That will bode over well. If Pinzon is a hit then that should open some doors between Champagnie, Posh, and him all doing their thing.

Coach has made it a good idea to come to St.John

Yea playing time is available.

But seriously St. John's needs to improve so many areas and this has nothing to do with who the coach is. We need better facilities, apparel deal, and change how we approach ticketing and revenue.

Best of luck to him.  He gave us three good years...can't really ask for much more in the current climate. Unlike Roberts, I could see him getting some good #s in a smaller conference if he gets the burn.

He recruited a BE POY candidate and maybe the preseason POY if he returns year 1, then recruited the BE DPOY and Freshman of the year his second year.... Just because he doesn't recruit flashy names who are head-cases like your boy you bash him. Sad.

For the there are no big men people, how did Qudus Wahab and Joel Soriano end up at the worst program in the country?

No more players from the previous staff remaining on the roster. The guys from the previous staff that were here last year have all transferred at least one level down after being in college at least 3 years.

Despite the early fretting by the fanbase when the exodus began last month, the consensus is now that CMA and staff did a very good job upgrading the roster in the transfer market over the past month. Unlike Lavin & Mullin, CMA is building something that could lead to consistent success rather than putting all the eggs into the basket of one big season and then falling flat.

Assuming Julian does return, this is now an NCAA Tournament quality roster. I think CMA building an NCAA Tournament roster going into year 3 should be looked at as a success given our recent history and where we are in the landscape of college basketball. Now it's all about making the pieces fit and actually having success on the court.

+1 Montez Mathis appears to be another nice pick up and hopefully we can add a 3 point shooter and or scorer before all is said and done.
