Great Pickup with Soriano there is not some scoop that Greg Williams could be coming back. Also the Alverado dream is still alive. Still a long way to go but This could turn into a very very good offseason for Anderson

Sounds like we're about to get good news with Soriano from Fordham. Not a world-beater but would be the best true big we've had in a while.

I haven't seen him play but looking at his numbers from Fordham his strengths are he is an elite rebounder on both ends of the floor (Top 30 in both OReb% and DReb% out of all D1 players this season) and great shot blocker. He was also pretty efficient from the field and has no interest in floating out to the perimeter.

On the downside he's very turnover and foul prone. Hopefully playing with better players and having the defensive focus shifted off him will help limit his turnovers.

All in all would be a very solid get keeping him home after some solid competition was involved. Have needed a big like him badly for years.

Indeed. A true Windex cleaner down low. Finally. Beat out OK St and Pitt among others for him. Nice get.

That would be huge if we got Alvarado.

Since he was a freshmen juco I wonder if the immediate eligible transfer rule being enacted supersedes the rule of needing to graduate junior college to be immediately eligible at a 4 year school.

Soriano doesn't fit into CFC's system at all.  Strange get.

There is an offensive side of the court and a defensive side and we've lacked a big to match up with other teams bigs on the defensive end. Also nice to get offensive rebounds and put backs and kid looks like he has a decent hook shot.

Disagree. Soriano is similar to Bobby Portis in size and style and Portis fit in to Anderson's system just fine. Now, by no means am I saying Soriano will even be in the same universe as Portis as far as how good he is but a 6-11 true big that can rebound, block shots, and won't get pushed out of the lane by anybody is a fit in any system.

Soriano's got 3 years of eligibility left. Some nice long term big guys coming in.

As much as Josh Roberts was our best option at the five this year, he got pushed around a lot. Moore wasn't much of a defensive presence and Earlington was undersized. Van Macon and Coach Anderson have addressed the front court issues we had last season. Deserve a lot of credit. We Are...

Yep, Roberts understood his role but was too slender and raw to be a reliable 25-30 mpg guy on a good Big East team. Having only seen Soriano in highlight videos and understanding highlight videos are what they are, he does seem to be a major upgrade over the Roberts/Moore duo. He's got good hands, nice touch, can score if he catches it with his back to the basket and can bang with the Nate Watson's of the world.

The main concerns are going to be if he can consistently stay out of foul trouble and how he adjusts to not being the focal point of the offense anymore.

Will be nice to have a guy that can score down low in the half court. The team was pretty good at getting quick shots, but not so good at manufacturing them in sets.

He and Wheeler should be nice together.
