I thought about Indiana because of Benson, but Isaiah wasn't a #1 overall pick and Walt Bellamy came before your 1966 barrier.

  I stand corrected.  you are 100% right.  I was certain Thomas was a #1, my bad.   Good job.  it was Aguire that year.

If that's the case, I think Dumic played a year of high school in Staten Island, and Wait spent last year in the Canary Islands, which may add some mileage.
