Rico Pickett would 100% start at PG for this team for the next two years & if MSG sold him that is a terrible news. With that said BAMA had a top ten team talent wise his Frosh season one of the reason why they didn't perform up to their ability was because there PG plays was mediocre at best.
Attack basketball, pressure defense, 40 minutes of hell ... Early on it might be 30 minutes of hell, then 10 minutes of what the hell are you doing?"

Who was the PG? Ronald Steele? And if the PG was mediocre why didnt Pickett start or did he?

Just another reason why the whole coaching staff needs to be given the sympathy killing - because that is really what firing them would be at this point - and bring in some guys who have a f'ng clue.

Better yet,  lock them in a room with Jayson Williams.

St Johns has gotten burned by taking questionable kids in the past. This is why Norm was hired, to clean things up-I think that is more important to the decision makers rather than winning games at this point

you just proved our point.  winning is no longer a priority.

Proves what point? That Rico might be a cancer to a team, that Norm cleaned up the program, and thats more important to the higher ups? ;)

Is Pickett in the same class talent wise as Lance? I dont know. But if youre going to take a chance in a kid, I think it should be a local who is the NY scoring leader with a load of talent. Thats just me.As for Rob Thomas, I think there is a difference between being illiterate and just defiant, lazy and not following team rules.
Pickett might be talented, but only time will tell how he fits in at Manhattan. This sounds alot like the Syracuse transfer to Iona a few years back. Deshaun Williams was not good for Ruland or team chemistry. Sometimes coaches hit the panic button and take on thetalented problem child. Im not saying this is the caase, but it sounds very similar to me

but thats not the point of the story, whether the kid is a fit, or the kid has a troubled past.

The point is, that this is another disgrace in the long list of failures under the norm roberts tenure.
The point is, a 4 star juco player chooses a hole in the wall mid-major conference school, right in our backyard.

Not to mention he was wowed by nyc and the garden. hmm the garden, thats our "home" court.

So to say that something like this is more embarassing that lance, i would say yes, it is.

If, or more properly, when lance chooses another school, its going to be a major D1 school. Not some mid-major.

So Norm cant get the big talent, and apparently he cant even 4 star recruits wowed by Manhattan college. [becuase he doesn't make an effort]

St Johns has gotten burned by taking questionable kids in the past. This is why Norm was hired, to clean things up-I think that is more important to the decision makers rather than winning games at this point
Then explain Norm bringing in Aaron Spears

I meant to include him by saying in the "past". I dont think Norm, staff or the school want to make a mistake again by taking in bad characters.

the point remains the same.  norm doesn't have the energy to go to the homes of the most elite recruits and sell them on the big east and madison square garden.

this is why the program is such a joke.  fire harrington.

I don't think energy or effort is the problem. We need to win ball games its that simple. Win and they will come.

Uh, he is?  He recruited Lance Stephenson, didn't he?  He's had a history, and was a risk.

What about taking Rob Thomas, who was illiterate until his junior year of high school?  That's an academic risk.

Rohrssen took a risk and the kid has effed up so far.

Let's find out what the kid did.  And as I said, you can't throw the excuse at me that "Norm is trying to recruit good, saintly kids" when he went after Lance Stephenson.  That argument just doesn't work.

Good point - but I am not going to kill Norm for this. Good luck to the kid at Manhattan. We need to win games this year and recruiting will become easier.

Rob Thomas has dyslexia and learning disabilities. You might as well call a blind kid illiterate.
