Q Calhoun leaving Houston, too?
« on: May 13, 2009, 11:36:35 AM »

Houston Cougars starting forward Qa’rraan Calhoun ultimately could decide to return for his senior season.

Calhoun is considering leaving the program to play professionally in Europe.

While Calhoun is doing some soul-searching and seeing what his options are, nobody on the UH coaching staff is telling him not to let the door hit him on his backside on the way out.

Calhoun, after all, is still a UH student in good standing. What’s more, Cougars coach Tom Penders likes having Calhoun in the program.

“He’s a real good kid,” Penders said. “He’s a fun kid to coach and be around.”

“I fully understand the dilemma.”

Calhoun recently became a father. He is feeling financial pressure and doesn’t have a ready-made support system.

Defnately understandable.  He should just stick it out and get his degree.
Then again, he could be making $150,000 in Europe and that clock is
ticking.

Condoms are cheaper than child support. I realize that they are a fairly new invention and most people may not have heard of them, but athletes really should look into them.

Aside - as a person who also doesn't understand why and how people knock up their gfs when they are athletes, it's not just athletes.  I know a number of fine, "girl next door" types out here who inexplicably are with child, though unmarried.  I don't fricking get it, but it happens.

Simple...women are crazy.  You can't trust them.  Not only bag it up, but bring your own condom (and a spare).  Women want two things:  to get married and have children.  It doesn't have to come in that order and sometimes they use #2 to get #1.

Not all women are crazy.  Part of why I can't understand why athletes (and others) get their women pregnant is because most of my female friends are not that type - they're driven, non-sedentary types who are cool with marriage, but they want to make a little money, get some success, and not be that crazy broad that people talk about!

Not all are crazy, you are right.  I think a large % of women are, though.  I don't have any female friends other than the girlfriends of my friends or my girl cousins.

Amen! It's about responsibility.  Just gotta take some.  That said - if he is leaving college to make money and SUPPORT his family, he IS taking responsibility so I can't fault him - though getting that degree will help more in the long term when bball fades for him bc it's not like he'll be making millions...

That might say more about you than the opposite gender.

You're not going to get an argument from me. I am from the school of thought that a straight man and a straight woman cannot be friends.  One of the two--if not both--will want more.

Plus, I have yet to find a girl that likes poker, golf, is funny, and actually knows about sports.
