It's not that just too many x/y factors involved with this equation. It's complicated. I love KA and it would be great seeing him in (St. John's) red and white.

You mentioned the spots would be filled before he makes a decision.  I believe the staff will focus their attention on Anderson (along, with Gathers) and have an open spot for him.  Is it more complicated than an open scholarship?  I'm just curiously asking.

I know he probably will not sign until later, but he has mentioned on two separate occasions that he'll announce for a school in October.  I just do not see the scholarship not being there for him in October.  Unless, you believe he won't commit to any particular school in October.

2nd straight day Rivals.com has a story on KA Jr.  This one from a Georgetown angle, quoting his father:

Hurley isn't running KA's recruitment KA senior is. So the early signing/late signing won't be impacted by Hurley. It's going to be a roller coaster ride with his recruitment. I'd love to have him but I don't feel confident about it.

How come you don't feel confident?  A vibe due to the other schools whose recruiting him or just a lack of confidence?

St. John's will fill the scholarships before KA makes a decision. I'm not saying its impossible but I'd say its less likely he comes to St. John's.

I really feel Rutgers is the big darkhorse in the race for KA.

Kyle Anderson will be a Johnny my gut tells me.  Lavin has him in his sights and he is local...no way he will be able to resist Lavin.  Lavin has closed everything he's been close on.

My guess is that he verbals early and signs late.  I understand that his dad is running the show, but Hurley is not a man to be ignored and he suggests to all of his players that they hold off on signing.

My understanding is that Coach Hurley holds the sugnred Letter of Intent as a type of escrow agent upon the understnding that if the college coach leaves the school or if the school comes under NCAA scrutiny after the player signs the LOI then  Hurley returns the signed Letter of Intent to the player who is freed of his commitment.  If on the other hand  there is no change with the college or it's coach but the player wishes  to renege his commitment to the college then Coach Hurley gives the signed Letter of Intent to the school. Which can enforce the LOI.

Hopefully, this is not just idle chatter.  Although, his mother has mentioned she would like for him to be close to home.  Quite frankly, I've thought for the last couple of months or so that we have a very, good chance at landing Anderson.

I've stated before that it seems the staff is seriously putting their focus on Gathers and Anderson for 2012.  Lavin and the staff can put the full court pressure on 'em both, considering, we'll only have 2 or 3 scholarships for 2012.  I like our chances when our staff is seriously recruiting any kid.  I like our chances even more when our staff can focus all of their attention on a limited number of targets.  Hence, why I really like our chances with Gathers and Anderson.

This is shaping up to be another very interesting summer for our Johnnies.  Thanks for info, chris.

I think that we have only 2 scholarships for 2012. One of them is for, supposedly, Jevon Thomas.

Currently only one scholarship available for class of 2012 and that's assuming that we are done for this year.

Unless we grab that big man mentioned last week (memory for names is so gone I don't even know where to look)  who graduated with a year of eligibility.

If this becomes Kyle's top 5 list IMO Georgetown will be the toughest competition. Hoping that playing on the "big stage" at the Garden with the recruits coming in this year will make SJU the pick for Kyle.

Apparently Kyle likes short phone calls LOL!:

http://insider.espn.go.com/ncb/blog?name=telep_dave&id=6457385&action=login&appRedirect=http%3a%2f%2finsider.espn.go.com%2fncb%2fblog%3fname%3dtelep_dave%26id%3d6457385

Kyle Anderson (Paterson, N.J./St. Anthony) might not like the new legislation, if its approved. The new rules would allow unlimited contact between schools and recruits past a certain date.

"Seton Hall does the best job at recruiting me," Anderson said. "It's short phone calls and (timely) when they come see me. Them and Georgetown do a great job. I speak to Coach [John] Thompson for three minutes and that's it. Little things like that make it better."

UCLA, Florida, St. John's, Arizona and Xavier are also coming strong for Anderson. After reading this, they'd be wise to save minutes on their cell plans and more importantly, Anderson's time on the phone. However, we're particularly interested in seeing how schools handle him because of his unique abilities as a passer with size and vision. Would he pick a place that has an established point guard?

Per ESPN Recruiting....

Kyle Anderson (Paterson, N.J./St. Anthony)
2012, PG/PF, 6-7, 210 pounds | Team: N.J. Playaz
College: Undecided
This spring has been a launching pad for Anderson's game. Always a highly regarded player, he finally seems comfortable in his own skin. Most of the point guards in this class don't see the floor the way he does, and he's stopped forcing the issue. When studying his basketball IQ, you are impressed by how he reads and plays the game one possession ahead of his competition.

Damn, his skill set is too perfect a match for Georgetown's system. I think just from that perspective, Georgetown might be in the lead. And the Johnnies will already have a multitude a ball handlers (Lindsey, Harrison, Thomas, Stith will be a senior) so there might not be much minutes for Kyle til his Jr year maybe, and he's stated his preference for being a pg.
