Wow, I didn't see this one coming...It was going to be a fight for minutes for everyone, but I would think that he knew that coming into St. John's

Best of luck to Polee and I'll be rooting for him wherever he lands

Wow I did not see that coming either. I thought he could have been a good player for us. Its sad to see him go.
I wish him the best of luck.
It explains why we continue to be aggressive in recruiting.
Stith will probably leave as well

Wow - a shocker.

At first I thought it peculiar that he'd only said he'd miss the staff and New York until it dawned on me that there was only teammate left - Stith.

MJD:  In regard to the latter - any particular reason you said what you did about him?

I'm just not sure Stith will be here before the season starts or for the duration of the season.  Just a hunch.

I was kind of shocked about this and then I remember Moose tell me during the season he was hearing that the dad wasnt happy with his sons playing time. I kind of didnt think about it because it's not like he wasnt playing.

Best of luck Dwayne. I hope you do well at whichever school you end up at

If there is an illness or something like that I wonder if he tries getting the waiver like MoMo is trying. I think that Lavin would be cool with that and try to help him in that regard so he didnt have to sit a year.

I think he is better suited to play the 3 anyway and minutes are going to be tough there going forward

Just think, a few years ago, Polee would have been the stud of the team.  Now, he transfers out allegedly because he's concerned about lack of playing time due to competition from a bunch of freshman.  We've come a long way so fast.  Still, I liked Polee and wish him the best.

According to a report, his father was the one who made him transfer.  Didn't see his son getting enough minutes next season and beyond.

Heard those rumblings halfway thru the year as well.  So I'm surprised but not shocked.
Wish him nothing but the best.  He will land at some Cali school.

We had a long thread on him at redmen.com
I used to bet bashed for saying this kid just isn't a big east player.
No handle and always seemed lost on both ends.
Nothing against him personally but as I've said before, I didn't see him in a rotation of 8 for next year anyway.

We need a big man IMO, not both Anderson and gathers.

I didn't see much progress from the first to the last games for Polee.  He's got crazy athletic ability but needs a lot of work on his skills...he's got a chance to be good.  Hopefully he finds what he is looking for...also seemed to be a real nice kid!
When you're a kid from New York and you do it in New York, that lasts forever!

A couple of things.

This is why it was not wise having such an overloaded senior class. Lavin bringing in such highly ranked wings was going to put the squezze on Dwayne.

But there isn't much we can do about it. Wish Dwayne the best and whoever gets him is getting a great kid who will be a solid contributor.

SJU will be fine and now more room for 2012.

They are going to be awfully young.

Polee could not have predicted this when he was recruited. Just happened to recruit a lot of excellent SFs. They are not going to be your average FR they are really talented. He is a very good SF and had a good FR year. He has a good attitude and is a team player. I wish him the best of luck.

same thing crossed my mind marco lol.

I think a school will see the potential of having polee come for a year and have all his focus on getting stronger and honing his skills. The year off could really help polee more than a lot of players

If this is his list of schools to transfer to it speaks volumes.  I wasn't impressed this year.  The new crop would have pushed him to the bench.

http://latimesblogs.latimes.com/varsitytimesinsider/2011/05/boys-basketball-dwayne-polee-jr-is-leaving-st-johns.html
Former Westchester standout Dwayne Polee Jr. is transferring from St. John's to be closer to his family while his mother deals with a health issue.

"He'll be a big help closer to home," Yolanda Polee said Sunday.

Pepperdine and Loyola Marymount could be in the mix to land Polee, who started as a freshman at St. John's.
