One thing I don't like about wood's game is that his length and hops dosent translate to rebounds or blocked shots, which tells me he's very lazy on the defensive end. Hopefully the pride we take in our defense will rub off on him when he gets on campus.

This kid better than Harrison?

Different.  Harrison is more of a shooter off screens.  Harrison will be a lights-out shooter over the next few years.  Wood has more well rounded ability.  Woods is much more athletic, taller and better at attacking the rim.  I'm extremely happy to have them both.  Both will have good careers here.  Wood has more upside because of his length and athleticism probably IMHO.

Agree with most of what you said but I actually think Harrison is good at attacking the rim. Hes not great at starting from the top of the key and getting where he wants, but when he catches on the wing he is able to get by his man regularly.

From what I've seen Wood is not lazy at all on the defensive end.  He actually has some good habits as he gets low, stays low and move his feet better than a lot of our guys right ow.  He covers a lot of ground.  He actually is a decent rebounder, but it's not very often that SG's are blocking lots of shots and that is a good thing.  Theyd be out of position if they were.  He's actually a bit taller than Harrison though.  Watch the videos next to Garrett.  Harrison is 6'2 or 6'3.  Wood is 6'4"+ it seems.

Like I said, I love Harrison's game and wouldn't trade him.  Both very different types of players and with different styles.  Both are going to be good scorers for us though.

Agreed there both terrific talents but that analysis was made by me seeing him up close and personal. Saw him at is8 and on the circuit this past summer, he gets blown by often and may be more 6'3.5 than 6'4+. He's not very strong so once a driver gets that shoulder by him it's hard for him to recover, and his lack of strength also dosent allow him to finish around the cup well. With all that said I still like his upside it just all depends on him having a "defined" position on the next level. Either turn him into a 1 or breed him into a 2. Also on the high school level if your 6'3 long and with bounce that should very well translate into some rebounding and definitely a couple of stamps to the glass if your a hard worker however when watching him play I didn't see that hence where "lazy" came from.

Believe me bro I'm not a stat guy, I'm from Jamaica queens and got to see Darrick most recently at is8 and a video of him during a loss to Hargrave military academy. I have no idea how many points, assists, rebounds, turnovers etc homeboy averages. Everything that was said was from courtside analysis and I think Kemba showed us all last year how much heart matters. However I love Darrick's upside but he needs a lot of fine tuning and about 15 pounds.

I agree they are different, but I think Harrison will be the more well rounded offensive player by far.  Wood is on a differerent level athletically.  Harrison is a very strong kid...he'll be a bulldog by next year.  I think this kid will leave St. John's as one of our all-time favorites.  I also expect Harrison to excel in the midrange game as well as taking it to the basket more when he figures it all out.  He really impresses me with his body control and fundamentals when he gets into the lane, but I'm not sure he has enough foot speed to get there like he did in high school.  His shot will open that up in time...so will some screening and passing (team sucks in these areas now).  He will also have to be more creative off the dribble to get his man off-balance, because I dont think he is going to win many foot races like a Greene or Wood.

I love the way Wood gets into his shot...he's a good-looking prospect, but that boy better start eating and hitting the weights.

Yeah, I don't think we're in disagreement. Must different type players.  Harrison is a shooter and scorer in the JJ Reddick mold.  He is a guy that will excel in a year or two when we get our offense running more screens and getting him freed up.  I've been impressed with Harrison's ability to finish, but he'll always have a rough time around the rim against the UK's of the world.  Harrison will need to get his in the midrange and outside.  Lamb of UK isn't an athletic freak but is dangerous with his shooting ability as well as his floater on penetration.  Harrison is more in that mold.  As I said, I think Harrisonmwill be a very dangerous shooter as he logs more minutes and continues to improve.

Wood with more strength should be able to get his both outside and taking his man.  He's built like Lamb of Uconn if a little bit shorter, but has similar length and skill set. As I said, both different players but both I'm very happy having on board at SJU.

Darrick Wood vs Jarrett Terrell  and Amir Garrett vs Noah Vonleh

Sould be interesting matchups against 2 of the better young SG/SF's.

Are you allowed to be critical of a St J's player or recruit? You may be vilified by the rose colored glasses crowd who in my opinion are expecting more help from Amir than his talent will allow.

IMO, Garrett didn't play too badly.  Quite frankly, it seemed most of the players on Bridgeton's team, other than Garrett, was going for their own.  He was passing the ball.

I don't like the way Bridgeton plays.  They don't look like a well coached team.

I believe their game on yesterday was much closer than 50 points.

I'm not sure I see the need for the sarcasm here. What does a post like this accomplish?

He didn't look good. So he didn't look good. It's his opinion.

Has anyone heard anything on Darrick lately? Always used to follow and watch STJ games, and comment/support on twitter. Lately there hasn't even been a mention. I know twitter shouldn't be used as a basis, just curious if he is still slated for us.
