This kid better than Harrison?
Different. Harrison is more of a shooter off screens. Harrison will be a lights-out shooter over the next few years. Wood has more well rounded ability. Woods is much more athletic, taller and better at attacking the rim. I'm extremely happy to have them both. Both will have good careers here. Wood has more upside because of his length and athleticism probably IMHO.
I agree they are different, but I think Harrison will be the more well rounded offensive player by far. Wood is on a differerent level athletically. Harrison is a very strong kid...he'll be a bulldog by next year. I think this kid will leave St. John's as one of our all-time favorites. I also expect Harrison to excel in the midrange game as well as taking it to the basket more when he figures it all out. He really impresses me with his body control and fundamentals when he gets into the lane, but I'm not sure he has enough foot speed to get there like he did in high school. His shot will open that up in time...so will some screening and passing (team sucks in these areas now). He will also have to be more creative off the dribble to get his man off-balance, because I dont think he is going to win many foot races like a Greene or Wood.
I love the way Wood gets into his shot...he's a good-looking prospect, but that boy better start eating and hitting the weights.
Yeah, I don't think we're in disagreement. Must different type players. Harrison is a shooter and scorer in the JJ Reddick mold. He is a guy that will excel in a year or two when we get our offense running more screens and getting him freed up. I've been impressed with Harrison's ability to finish, but he'll always have a rough time around the rim against the UK's of the world. Harrison will need to get his in the midrange and outside. Lamb of UK isn't an athletic freak but is dangerous with his shooting ability as well as his floater on penetration. Harrison is more in that mold. As I said, I think Harrisonmwill be a very dangerous shooter as he logs more minutes and continues to improve.
Wood with more strength should be able to get his both outside and taking his man. He's built like Lamb of Uconn if a little bit shorter, but has similar length and skill set. As I said, both different players but both I'm very happy having on board at SJU.
