I was on B. 140th in '59 (I think Hurricane Carole) when the ocean met the bay, particularly in my folks' basement.  Still have friends on 137th and 143rd.  Stay safe.  Aim for the lower spinal column as needed.

Wow Im on 136th.

Hurricane Carol did you mean?

Pretty bad here, feels like the doors are ready to get yanked away. Dining room window leaking in. Bridges in and out of Rockaways closed.  Good luck to everyone

Or super absorbent ones.

Well, I'm going to go to bed. I expect to see you alive and posting when I wake up. Good luck. And that goes for all you Northeasterners.

Working at hospital all night.  Wife, kids and dogs fine at the in-laws.  Now all I gotta figure out is if my house is ok when I get back there tonight...

Here in upstate NY (Mohawk Valley), we have been getting heavy rain since, well, it woke me up at 3:15 am. It hasn't let up. I had the Weather Channel on around 7 am, and they said it was still in New Jersey.

I went through about 4 hurricanes while living in Florida in the 60's. One of them, Hurricane Cleo, must have been bad, since they retired the name, in memory of those who died. We missed Hurricane Donna by several months. It struck while we were still in NY. It's name has also been retired. While living in Manhattan, I went through Hurricane Gloria.
