John Reese enters his first season an assistant on coach Billy Kennedy's Texas A&M basketball staff.
Reese joins the Aggies after 15 years at Bryan (Texas) High School, the last 10 as head coach. In his decade at the helm, he led the Vikings to 246 wins, seven district championships and nine playoff appearances.
“I am excited to add John to our staff,” Kennedy said. “His success as a coach and his relationships with high school coaches in Texas and the AAU programs will be a great asset to our program.”
In 2011, Reese led the Vikings to a 20-13 record and spot in the area round of the state playoffs. He began his career at the school as an assistant before being named head coach in May 2001.
Reese, who has worked for the Bryan Independent School District for the last 18 years, graduated from Angelo State University with a degree in kinesiology and speech communications. He is a long-time member of the Texas High School Coaching Association and the Texas Association of Basketball Coaches. Reese and his wife, Celeste, have two sons, Jerron and J-Mychal.
