I've been the first one to jump on the coaching staff for multiple reasons this year, but this one wasnt on the coaches..this was freshmen being freshmen.
After a great first half where we moved the ball smartly and, just as importantly, played tough D, we did the complete opposite at the start of the second half. Moe bricked a turnaround J and a three, Harrison rushed a three and got a charge, Dom got a little happy after his sweet lefty lay in and shot an ill advised pull up J early in the clock, Greene bricked a rushed J at the shot clock buzzer, Amir bricked a 3 (Note to Amir: Love, love, LOVE your passing skills. But dont shoot threes. Ever.)
But just as bad as that we gave up multiple easy baskets in transition. Dunlap called an early TO to try to stop the madness and used the media TO at 16:00 to do the same. Nobody listened and the game got away from them. When D'Angelo is on the bench, thats when Greene, Dom and Amir have to step UP the pressure on D, not let down. Because thats whats going to lead to points, not the three of them trying to do things they dont have the skills to do. Another painful but valuable lesson learned.
The first half was fun and a great indication of what we're capable of. On to the next game.
