Duke Game Discussion

Pros:  Their guards can't play D, coach K refuses to play zone, and our kids will play for 40 minutes.

Cons: Their guards can really shoot, they have a big frontline, and coach K will remember the beat down we gave them last year.

Agree Duke will want to avenge last years beat down but when they look at us the only one they will recognize is Stith so they can't really get revenge. Maybe they will look at Stith and go-yeah let's kick his a$$! LOL

More damaging to us than beatint them last year, i think, is the fact that fsu broke their home winning streak last saturday.  Certainly going to be pumped to not lose two in a row (and break the non conf home winning streak which has been going Since we beat them in 2000!)

Our only chance to be competitive is if we totally "out-athletic" their man D and they go 4-22 from 3.

I'm predicting a 15 pt. beat-down.

I guess everyone assumed that I meant we would be on the receiving end.  Does anyone give us a chance?
I actually do because I think a light bulb came on with the coaching staff after the loss to Nova.  They realize that we don't play well in a slow down half court offense.  The WV offensive philosophy was to play faster---even in the half court---and to attack the rim rather than passively looking for a shot.  I think that same aggressive philosophy will be used against Duke.  If we do, I think we will be competitive.

I  think we have a chance because of how they play D. Don't think their bigs are as good as they are made out to be either, however, It certainly would be nice to have them on our roster.

Just looked it up:
Duke is shooting 40% from 3pt.... and they take 20 a game.   

And we're playing at Cameron with 5 freshmen.

I don't think they take 20 3s on us unless we play 4 in the paint. K gonna wanna foul out whole team just for fun. Ya gotta watch that guy, he loves to win. I had it in for him for years. It was me being jealous and resentful of the hoops program they got going down there for whats now decades. I hope Steve gets and stays well, and thats us someday. Go Storm. 

The worst is Collins and Woj on the side lookin like two Robins to Batman.

Both are poster children fo why the McD's All American selection is rigged.

Agree.  While has to take it at Rivers as much as possible.  Greene has to penetrate like he did last game.  Force Plumlees a few feet out.  Duke will hit their share of threes but we have a better shot at limiting their inside game than their outside game.

I thought we had a chance 2 years ago, most people thought I was crazy on here. I think we hang with them for 25 minutes. The last 15 will get ugly. Not only are they good and Cameron is a tough place to play, but they get ALL the callsfrom the refs. Cant believe that our games in 99/00 were 12/13 years ago. damn am I getting old.

My roommate is from Durham, so this is a big grudge match in the apartment.  Last year I got to rub it in his face.  I think this year he will get payback.  If we keep it close in the first half, and lose by 15 I think it's a decent outcome.  Duke is such a hostile environment for a young team. 

This could be a tough one for our group.  I hope some folks doesn't lose their head on this one.
