Middle of the pack may be more realistic but certainly not the goal. Louisville & Syracuse appear to be the top teams of the top of my head but after that no one really separates themselves
I agree. And we've had this debate on the board before ... how high should a team's "goals" or "expectations" be. Keeping in mind the two are not the same.
But you're all right, their goal can't be middle of the pack in the Big East. I've often seen good coaches have a two pronged approach; a long term goal that is just above what you think you can do if everything went right, and then short term goals that you more than likely can accomplish.
That way, you build confidence in your players by actually accomplishing something. So you say we're going to open the season 3-1, or have more assists than turnovers in our games at the Charlotte tournament. Tangible, short term goals you can accomplish and the build on.
But for the season? Goal has to be at least a double bye for the BE tournament. Those go to the top 4 teams right? I would think that would be the minimum goal, if not .. then winning the Big East.
And I'm definitely not drinking the Kool Aid yet, but even I'll admit our goal is much higher than middle of the pack.
