wonder if this has anything to do with salary caps?

regardless, i don't like it.  as a special asst/advisor i think keady is perfect.  but as an assistant coach, i would like someone who is more in tune with today's players.

makes little sense.  as an advisor you have his input anyway.  just cannot sit on the bench i believe.  dunlap was one of the highest paid assistants.  are we cutting back expenses again?

Why?  Just curious as to why you are opposed to it?

Just because I think we need a long term solution for that role. I thought Keady's role was perfect for him and the team. I don't really see the benefits of a move like this.

I love this move for the upcoming season if true However at end of season I would hope Keady moves back to an advisor role as I am sure he has no desire to recruit

Keady recently married-probably needs more money to keep new bride happy.

The man is a GREAT coach. And as an advisor he can't actually coach, right? Sounds like Allocco may be backing out, and who would be a better last-minute choice for coaching than Keady, especially if it's only a one-year stopgap.

Also, I haven't checked the ratings, but how many kids from Indiana are highly ranked in the next season or two? The man is well loved in at least part of the state. . .

I posited this a couple months ago.    IF Steve really wants Alloco as the permanent assistant, but the timing with De La Salle isn't right for this season, Gene being elevated for a year to give us a full compliment of assistants makes sense, until Frank is available next season.   Keady staying  home, able to run practice (and he DOES come with a near legendary Hall of Fame reputation  for doing so), with Steve, Tony and Rico free to be on the recruiting trail makes some sense.

Keep telling you guys - with Steve Lavin history repeats.   Bruin fans treated it as a joke, but in his memoirs John Wooden wrote that his late 80s, early 90s  he seriously considered accepting Steve's offer to rejoin the Bruin coaching staff to structure and manage the  Bruin practices (an aspect of his coaching Steve acknowleges is a weakness).   Again, contrary to the common Bruin fans beliefs, Steve and Coach Wooden were very close - in fact, until failing health prohibited, JRW had agreed to be Best Man at Steve and Mary Ann's wedding...

Last season I walked through the Amtrak waiting area wearing my St John's hat.  Some Indiana guy gave me the thumbs up and said St John's was his second favorite team now that his all time favorite coach was on the bench. 

I trust in Lavin and think this would be a cool move.  Seems like this sport is loaded with old guys on sideline.
