but if they NCAA doesn't clear them to play, there have to be some consequences with the staff.

What should be the consequence?  Firing?  Public flogging?  Castration?

It is better to have signed and lost...than never to have signed at all.

There are consequences in every field when there are not results...

The staffs job is to bring players into the program and win games. If we are not getting players who make it to the court and we are not winning games - our "GM" needs to make changes or someone will change the GM.

i agree.  and this staff has brought in great players.  and we have a great team.  and we will have great results this year.  and if lavin ran for mayor of new york, i would move back to new york just so i could vote for him.  thank you coach.

i agree with pmg.  the coach in charge of compliance should get his walking papers.  it's different if the ncaa learned there were under the table payments that were untraceable.  last year it was a bum school.  this year, it's whatever.

MMMMMMM....results, fist year on the job, NCAA bid...second year, health scare. PLEASE enlighten me the last time we have this high level recruits on a team???????

Give up and go root for the scrubs Seton Hall and come out of the closet that you are a fan of them first.

We are so lucky to have Lavin, and with the first game of the season, we beat a NCAA team. When has this happened in the past years???????? NEVER.

We are so lucky to have Lavin.

Going back to Marco/Sanchez, a poster on the other site said a bit earlier that he heard from a good source that both Marco and Sanchez will be cleared soon.

If we are not getting players who make it to the court and we are not winning games - our "GM" needs to make changes or someone will change the GM.

1st Year - Hollywood hired onto a uniquely senior laden team.  One high profile recruit, Polee vault, that made "it to the court" but subsequently "changed his mind".   Won enough games to dance for first time in ages.

2nd Year - Diagnosed with prostate cancer and only coached a couple of games.  Two high profile recruits made "it to the court" including the best player we've had here since World Beta B Free Peace, the #15 Nba pick.  Other quality recruits make "it to the court" including a current 2nd team all BE selection and a million dollar bonus baby pitching prospect, who played well in his shortened season.  Three recruits declared ineligible due to academic issues. Team left terribly short handed after two dispicable mid-season transfers.  Team didn't win enough games.

3rd Year - One of last years three ineligible recruits, extremely high profile and yesterdays Sju's Espn game featured player, resigned and now eligible.  Many other interesting recruits make "it to the court" including the all-time SJU single game shot blocking record holder.  Remains to be seen if we win.

Summary:  Year one we won.  Year two we lost. It is now year three. Many fine recruits have made "it to the court".  Others have not.

If you want to win in this environment of semi-pro college basketball; RISKS MUST BE TAKEN.  We need a staff willing to shoot for the stars even if it doesn't always work out.  Usually, the better the college program, the more difficult the job of it's compliance team. It is ridiculously premature to suggest that we are even approaching the point where our "GM" needs to make changes due to recruiting failures or W/L's.

Me too.  If we add those 2 and Branch, I don't think there's anybody we can't match up with as we mature over the course of the season.

It's the lingering and waiting that is most annoying.  UK and UCLA get their shit settled by the NCAA before the season starts, why not us?  It's a bunch of crap.  Not fair to program and not fair to kids.  Regardless of the outcome with these two, I highly doubt there was any gross infraction.  A minor technicality that has held up this team's chemistry and preparation moving forward.  Total BS.

Just decide one way or another...Please.
