I don't think you are giving Lav and the staff nearly enough credit, Bobre. I agree that we are not where we want to be by any stretch, but our staff did get the most out of a senior class that had never won before, and several of them are making money in large part because of the staff's development of those guys. With a different staff, that team could have just as easily been a borderline NCAA squad or been NIT bound. Prior to the 2010-2011 season, did anyone think we were going to beat as many top 10 teams as we did and be a legit top 20 team? Even the most ""glass half full" poster wouldn't have predicted that. DJ went down, which was a killer, and we drew a bad match up in the first round of the tourney (going West to play the Zags who played a great game and hit 3's). Last year sucked, and the ineligibility of a few guys hurt, but Lav getting sick was nothing he or the team could control. We took a risk with Pelle, but teams in our situation back then would have done the same. And we had a player not projected to go to the NBA end up being taken 15th overall. Moreover, exposure for our program is terrific right now.
Fact is we are getting the best recruits we have had since Fran. Players who would have never considered St. John's are coming here and the program is in a lot better shape. Good things have happened, but even better things are on the horizon.
