Who know what the deal is here, annoying at the least?

“@KieranDarcy: Steve Lavin says D'Angelo Harrison will not start tomorrow vs. Detroit, but will play starter minutes”

WTF!@        What the hell is going on here??       I defended coach for benching him in the preseason; even though it was somewhat inconsistent (benched the first half of game one, plays 2nd half, but then benched all of game 2).        But now this?      Either D'angelo committed some heinous transgression that we don't know about or coach has lost his mind.      Either way we're not getting straight news about the situation.   This isn't a matter of coach expecting a heightened level of leadership from D'lo.   Can't be.

Might be the latter

EVERYONE SEE THAT!!!! I criticized the coach.  For all those who think I can't do such a thing :)

Moose, the fact you have not publicly ripped Coach Keady yet speaks volumes! You being
seen toting Lavin's groceries from Whole Foods in TriBeCa is also cause for worry! Say it ain't so Moose!

Poison, he was an all Big East Rookie.   He averaged 16+ a game as a freshmen.   He's earned his time.    I can understand benching him in the preseason, but you can't not start him in the regular season for no reason.   Coach isn't be straight about what happened with D'lo.    Or, coach is going over board with the discipline and leadership.   One of the two.   Because he's essentially been telling everyone that it's not big deal, and Harrison didn't really break any team rules, just hasn't been a good enough leader.

Well.. that's not a good enough reason to not start your best player.

Could be he's not starting tomorrow just because he didn't start in the preseason. Not as further punishment, but for consistency's sake. Foolish consistency being the hobgoblin of great and powerful minds.

You've been right on this issue from the beginning it appears Fun.   If coach was trying to prove to everyone he really is a bimbo, he's doing a good job of it.

Who was the coach you wanted?  I know it wasn't Calamari or Clam Chowder or whatever you call Cal.

I think the Sanchez thing isn't a big deal, this ongoing Harrison issue could develop into a pretty big problem and is worrisome. And this is coming from the one guy on the board who thinks 99% of you have vastly overated him.

I think he is just trying to be consistent, but I don't see that as any sort of negative.  The player who are starting are the ones that performed and did their part in practice and on the court the last 2 games.  Coaches do these things all the time.

Do any of us really know he's a potential first rounder?  I think we were hoping for that based on a rumor or two, but we haven't see evidence of that just yet.  We may never know how big of a potential loss it is.

Either Harrison is doing things so egregious that coach is being forced to act, or coach is picking a fight or trying to prove a point with our best player who is widely agreed to be tempermental to say the least. Either option is not appealing or bodes well for the future.

If he can't play, it sucks.  Doesn't mean the season is over, or that there isn't a lot to look forward to (there is).  But it sucks, based on the early reports of how important he was going to be.  And, depending upon why he is not allowed to play, I think it opens our staff/compliance dep't to fair criticism, particularly if it is an issue that we were aware of all along.

I thought Lavin commented that Harrison was going to play starters minutes.

This benching does not bode well till 2:10 PM tomorrow when Harrison is on the floor for the rest of the game.

The fact that he is not starting and Lavin feels the need to comment on it is troubling. Will it be a problem for the first game, no. But clearly something is going on there that hopefully gets cleared up.

Playing starter min is good enough. Who cares if you start or not.

That is not the point. Even if it is only a minor punishment, it is the third game in a row. You generally prefer to have your best player and coach on the same page. Lavin / Harrison are clearly not  at the moment. One other thought on the subject. For all intent and purposes Lavin is a new coach for Harrison.

Look at the bright side. If Sanchez committed to providence you would have been angrier right now about him potentially not being able to play :)

I don't recall lobbying for one guy or another except Frank Martin and that was in private. Are you attempting a point? If so you should try declarative sentences every once in a while, they're fun.

I'm asking a question.  Thats what happens when you put a ? at the end of a string of words.  Frank Martin would have been good choice as well.

quotes form Dlo

On his maturation as a leader:

"I listened to what the coaching staff had to say and learned my lesson from not playing the Concordia game. I've basically been growing up these past few practices and being more of a leader on the team. I can't let myself react to things and let my emotions get the best of me; being more mindful of some of the things I had problems with last year. I'm still going to be a leader of this team, that hasn't changed. I'm one of the leaders, it's not just me. I could come off the bench all year, that's fine with, as long as I get to play and I'm going to be a leader no matter what."

On coming off the bench against Detroit:

"It doesn't bother me as long as I get to play. I might lose my starting spot because there are a lot of good players on this team, but I'll be ready no matter what. Even if I'm the last man to get in the game, I'm still going to play how I always play."

On the difficulty of opening against Detroit:

"They are a very athletic group. They have one of the best athletes, Doug Anderson, in college basketball. Ray McCallum is really good, I've known him since I was a little kid. We can't turn the ball over
