What did Dom do?

Steal and dunk.

If he can matchup with the oppositions best player and limit or shut them down, then he is very valuable.

Boy, we can really defend wings, overplay lanes and get steals. As Obekpa gets better and better, they can cheat even more. Resulting lay ups help negate outside shooting deficits.

Nice hustle from Dom saving that ball and giving DLo an easy layup.

Much better half from Phil. Mostly because he is attacking.

2 quality wins for us to start this season. Really wish this counted as a road game.

Nice win 64-53.

Defense looked great.  They got beaten a few times when they gambled but they closed well and forced CoC to rush their shots.

Balanced scoring.  So many weapons.  I think you will see a different combination of scores from game to game, depending on who is hot.  Foul trouble will not be a big problem because of the number of bodies.

Can't wait for Sanchez and Marco to join in.

For the record C of C is preseason no. 2 behind Davidson in their Southern Conference Division.

And they were a 2 pt favorite today.

Charleston posse will have tome for one more brew! Jealous!

“@STJ_Basketball: Quick note... The #stjbb-Coll. Of Charleston match-up tips at about 5:32 pm (not really 5), so adjust your DVRs or plan accordingly!”

Information that would have been helpful before I left for work. Oh well.

The 1st game ended and they waited 40 minutes to start Baylor. Then they rushed STJ game even before the 532 start mentioned. Then they were waiting another 40 minutes for Murray St game

Why is the camera angle so high?

Look good early on.  Balanced scoring so far

Unusual arena but I really liked it. About 500 less seats than CA but built the right way

Neutral court games count a great deal in the minds of the committee

Plus it was road game with the pro Charleston crowd

They are really trying to stay out of foul trouble which I have no issue with. Let them take the 2 but gotta convert on other end.

St. John's looked great. Will try to get post game article up after Dolphin's game. I haven't done this much writing since 2008 but I like writing about St. John's again on JohnnyJungle.com.

Some thoughts:

Harrison - looked good. shot wasn't falling but he took the ball strong to the hole.

Greene - 1st half looked like the phil from last year; 2nd half looked much better and was taking it to the basket with authority

Sampson - much better 2nd game.  Still hasn't found his touch but he effected the game with his hustle, defense and rebounding

Amir - anther solid game.  Sometimes I forget how well he plays and then I look at the stat sheet after the game and am impressed by his numbers

Jones - another solid performance.  Better job rebounding the ball but got lost a bit in the 2nd half

Obekpa - didn't has as many blocks but still altered a bunch.  He changes the game defensively

Dom - a little better performance especially on defensive end.  Hopefully he gains some confidence from this game

Felix - looked athletic from the small sample but other than that couldn't tell much

Good game all around.  It would be great to grad this tournament and then get Marco and Orlando back.  Can't wait for another one tomorrow
