amir is shooting 61 percent for the year...telling me that he's not being aggressive enough.  too much talent for this kid not to be a double digit scorer night in and night out.  time for him to move into the starting lineup and stay there.  hopefully last game was indication of this.  and if he can rebound like he did, then he's truly a special player.

Where are most of his shots from though

Offensive rebound put backs. I'll take it.

There's something slightly stiff and akwward looking about that Jakarr "top of the key" shot, but it seems to go in every time  :)

Chris Mullin he is not.  That being said, he is a much better outside shooter than I had anticipated entering the season.

And something you don't see too often now a days is he looks for and is proficient at knocking down that mid range jumper.

I'm not complaining, I'm very pleased with the mid range shot Jakarr has shown.   But I assumed he would drive to the rim more, and we haven't seen that much.
That surprising to anyone else?

Exactly.  My point was not to look at the shooting % and his PPG and equate it to him getting more time/looks.

Yea I thought the same thing.  The one time I remember him driving the ball last night he was called for an offensive foul.  I think he has found it easier to work out on the perimeter for good or for bad.  I would like to see Jakarr work on his inside game but I think it will come with time on the court and in the weight room

And Amir DOESN'T lead the team in FG%.   A GUARD does.   After 6 games, Felix is shooting SEVENTY-THREE percent from the field, and 100% from the FT line!   Oh, and a 6:1 Assist to turnover ratio!   :)

Some other stuff from the stat page.    D'Lo showing HUGE improvement across the board - hitting 46% from the field, 38% from Distance, 92% from the line, and 21.9 pts, while leading the team in steals.   Obekpa has two things that really stand out  - 30 blocks in 7 games (obvioulsly) - they only credited him with three last night, I had him with 5.  Oh well.  But the other thing is REALLy unusual for a big - especially for a frosh - one who's "new" to the game.   He has an almost 2:1 Assist to Turnover Ratio (11 assists, only 6 turnovers).

Also HUGE improvement from Phil across the board.  2nd leading scorer at almost 14 a game (almost doulbe last years average).   48% FG.  70% on Fts.  Leads team in assists, has a 2:1 AT/R.

Last thing that jumps out is Jakarr.   Especially since no one questioned this athleticism, but EVERYONE questioned his shooting.   He's the 3nd leading scorer at almost 12 a game.  Shooting 53% from the field, 81% from the line.

Looking good.

Felix -  2 top 10 plays on sportscenter

I've seen some mentions of Balamou's blocks on Sportscenter.  Would love to see it but can't seem to find the link.  Can anyone provide?

Obekpa might be doing fantastic with the blocks, but its been at the expense of defensive rebounding.
He is 6th on the team in defensive rebounds

Most of his blocks, he leaves his man to attempt block.
Quite a few of opponents offensive rebounds(and putbacks) are by his man that he left.

I'd rather see 2-3 more Reb per game and 1-2 less blocks.
The opponents are only going to get bigger when Conf play starts

Gotta disagree with you on this one... that's DEFINITELY a fair criticism.    A lot of people have been thinking the same thing I bet.
It's an obvious thought when we're being out-rebounded and you see our guys jumping out of their shoes constantly for a block.

But for the longest time our fans clamored for a legit shot blocking presence.  And now they are saying well he doesnt have to block as many shots.

Really unfair to group everyone in to one group (our fans wanted a shot blocker), and then group everyone into the other group (our fans want less blocks).  Its like saying all Giant fans are nice persons because a few fans actually are.  Now if the same poster is saying both things, then yeah, that's a fair criticism.

Agree.  It's not right to say you want him to block less shots - that's ridiculous.
But saying he's putting himself in bad position to rebound, and jumping occasionally on balls that are already contested by Jakarr/Felix .. that's a fair point.
If you're the 3rd person to the party, box out and keep your man from making a tip in.

Nitpick.com.. I like that one. Kinda feel the same way. Just crushed an SEC team by 25 and less than 24 hours later every player's weakness is all people want to talk about.  Well, that and then fact that if we lose one of the next 5 the season is over.
