St Francis Game

Tickets were available. Bought 4 three days before the game  on the floor for 65 per, corner section row 17. Cheaper seats directly behind the basket floor level. There were also plenty of other seats in my section at same price. If fans do not come out to support the team, the school will not be able to afford Lavin and his staff. It is as simple as that.

If all you wanted to see was the St. John's game, 65 dollars is an extreme amount of money to pay to see us play a scrub team in a dead environment.  I realize Saturday was priced for a tripleheader involving a national power but that shouldn't be an indictment on the fans, we can see the same type of game in Queens next Friday in a better seat for half the price (which is still outrageously overpriced).

I was looking for tickets a week before the game and the only ones available floor level were the 65 dollar ones which I couldn't afford.  Ended up getting 25 dollar seats in the upper deck.

Start looking at groupon like sites, like ScoreBig.com. They have SJ tickets for less than face. Fact of the matter is that unless we are playing Duke, SU or Uconn tickets are not worth face to anyone but a select few New Yorkers.

We have a big alumni base, lots of fans, we should have had a mimimum of 5k fans there, especially with the novelty of a new arena to see.

Also, for a regular BE game (not Uconn, Duke or SU) you can get them outside from the paper bags who sell outside MSG, Yankee Stadium and the Meadowlands. When you buy them though, make sure you look carefully at the tickets. These guys will try to sell you lesser seats, and claim them as better. Have a ticket seating chart on you.

At the last minute, I went last year with 2 friends to see SU vs Zona. Our tickets were about 35 rows up from center court.
We paid $30 for all 3 seats.

Gotta remember, this isn't students who have free seats and merely choose not to go. These are alumni and other New Yorkers who are likely only to be able to attend a few games per season, if that.

If I had to pick a few games to see this isn't one of them. There is no reason for St.John's to be playing St.Francis on a big stage of any kind. We are the local team. We should have played Michigan, or at least WV. Playing a local, and a poor local at that, just keeps us steady as an undercard.

If die hard fans think it is not worth the price of admission , that says volumes about the program and its fan base. We have to decide if we want a big time program. If you want a high quality product, you have to pay for it. It does not happen by prayer alone. Try getting a tricket to Indiana, Syracuse , Purdue, UCLA, etc for less than 35 in upper deck and 65 for floor seats. and if you are only willing tp buy a seat when we are matched against another top progran, and not non-conference games, that also says volumes about the type of fans we have. Everytime fans don't show, we send a message to the administration , the press, and other programs---that basketball at SJU just isn't that important. That is the reality. If this continues, all of our games will be in Jamaica, and recruiting will be impossible at the level we expect. We all have a part to play here, and if you are a fan, there really are very few good excuses for not going to the games.

I agree with that. I didn't view it as a 3 game ticket. I didn't care about the other two games. I would be willing to bet less than  500 saw all 3 games. I bitched about the prices but still bought 15 seats and sat in an empty upper deck. If they wanted to do it right they should have had sfu play fordham and given sju a marquee matchup. That would have made tje ticket worth the price

Yeah I'm not sure how the event was run to be honest.  We were definitely an afterthought.  Did they have the other two games and think STJ and STF could eat up the rest of the tickets?

They should have had us playing West Virginia or Michigan with St. Francis playing the other. Those fans likely would have made the trip regardless of who they were playing. Then again our fans only had a short trip and should have attended regardless.

Agree, SJU vs Michigan would have been totally worth it.

The game was too far out of the way. It was too expensive. It was not against a top 20 program. And the dog ate my homework. The beat goes on. If we don't go to these games, who will pay the coaching staff and the other costs of a big time program? Do we want a big time program? Anyone out there have a magic wand? In your mind maybe.  The schools made the right move.  As for the piss poor fan base that has nothing to do with it.

I'm one who will not miss playing a 'home' game in MSG with 75% of the crowd being Cuse fans.
