DePaul guys!
Paultz bringin the wisdom.
Amen brothers, Amen.
I don't want to pile on.... But right on Paultz!
DePaul, DePaul, DePaul .. That's all our guys need to be thinking about.
As a side note: I know we're on a nice winning streak, but since when can we count games against USF or Providemce as automatic wins?
If its a tight game and we give the friars all those open looks down the stretch, like we did against Seton Hall, I guarantee Cotton will hit one of those open 3s to tie or take the lead. If we keep playing one possession games we're going to get burnt like we did against Rutgers the first time.
This habit of not putting teams away isn't a cute characteristic of a "scrappy" and young team....its a potentially fatal flaw for a basketball team.
I don't think anyone is saying they're automatic wins. But, would it surprise you if we beat them? Would it really surprise you if we knocked off one of Syracuse or Louisville? Is it out of the realm of possibility that we go 7-5 the rest of the way? We've only been "blown out" once this season, every other game has been close. And you can expect these final 11 games to be close as well.
I think we are clearly a bubble team right now. A lot can change from now until March, but no one on this board thought we'd be 13-7 (5-3) 4 games ago. Back then, our team was so poorly built we'd be lucky to surpass last years win total and Lavin couldn't coach a JV team.
Your last paragraph is absolutely true 212.
We're not nearly as bad as the consensus said we were 3 weeks ago. (Myself included)
But the opposite is true to, we're probably not as good as we think we are right now.
I gotta believe the truth lies somewhere in the middle unfortunately.
And to answer your question, no, beating USF or providence wouldn't surprise me... And I admit we should even be favored. But our margin for victory is just real slim right now, that I wouldn't count on both games being Ws.
And yes I would be shocked if we beat Louisville or Syracuse. If for no other reason than that those games are on the road at incredibly hostile environments. Yes, we won at Cincy, but I think it's a tall task to ask our guys to win any of those 2.
