View from the Front Row:
I was lucky enough to sit first row just to the left of ST Johns Bench:
what I liked....
**DOM, DOM, DOM, DOM DOOOOOM...ferocious player.  Plays so hard, does so much.  So coachable, when Lavin speaks to him, he listens.  He is our all around best player.  He will be a first round pick by his senior year.
**Balanced scoring.  Although Dlo is our most talented scorer, we have to have a third guy to push us over the top.  Green, DLo, Marco (Borgo) and Sampson all in double figures.
**Jakkar's post game.  Great footwork, quick spin move.
**only 9 turnovers without our starting PG...not great, but not terrible.
******When Lavin ripped into DLO on the bench, I LOVED DLO's demeanor.  Didn't pout, wasn't upset, stayed in the game and even encouraged his teammates.  This is not the DLO with the attitude problem from the beggining of the season.
Last of all, I know losing Lawrence hurts.  I know Raysheed seems like Temple or UCLA over stjohns, but provided we don't lose Jakkar or Harrison, I love this teams potential.  At worst, we get a rebounder in GG and a shooter in Max the hooper.  #FUTURE IS BRIGHT

Good synopsis

Yes Hooper and Gift add to the depth next year

We are not 3rd on Rysheed's list

Yeah, but anything other than first doesn't count... ;)

I would say 7000 Johnnies fans and 1500 Uconn fans.  Not a great crowd but very spirited.  Uconn fans started a cheer in the upper section when they were making the comeback but they got shouted down by our students.  Great job guys!

Uconn fans have definitely jumped off the bandwagon this year---at least as far as traveling down to the Garden.  I just wish we had come closer to filling the place.

Don't know if i'd agree with your breakdown. Closer to 6K vs 2 1/2K. And they still made as much if not more noise then we do. Didn't notice it ? That's because we led the whole game. When they got close it sounded like their house.

And I still don't like the Garden store selling the opponents jersey. That shit has got to stop.

Garden gets all concession money so unless the current deal changes thats the story.

I don't know that I've ever seen a player improve his ball handling in one year as much as Dom has.
He couldn't dribble a lick last year, and he did a nice job tonight bringing the ball up and running the offense when asked to.

Literally every part of his game is noticeably improving.   His foul shooting is improved, he's picking up assists with regularity, and he's even started to pick his spots to hit the occasional trey.

The guy is doing it all for us, and he's very efficient.   Doesn't take a lot of shots or turn the ball over.
Since January he's been a different guy.   Remarkable.

Definitely very improved but he still has that high dribble which makes steals easier. Fortunately he is able to outrun everyone making it difficult to swipe it away.

I heard that the team realistically thinks there is a chance that Branch plays against Cuse which is good to hear.

Branch was noticeably limping last night. Wouldn't bet on Sat.

Hoops with a fair "rip" of UConn.

"The Huskies are all dressed up with nowhere to go after this regular season. Under normal circumstances, the overachieving Huskies would likely have a good enough resume to earn an NCAA bid if they split the rest of their games. But these are not normal times in Storrs and it is hard to feel much sympathy for the plight of so called student athletes who failed to live up to their adademic responsibilities. Connecticut has a history of athletic mismanagement from top to bottom and a spotty record with the NCAA. The incoming freshman all knew in advance they could be ineligible for post season and other players could have followed the lead of Alex Oriakhi and Roscoe Smith, who transformed to Missouri and UNLV, respectively.
Of all the original members of the Big East, Conneciticut has the most uncertain future. Unless a BCS conference like the ACC eventually throws them a lifetime, they are destined to play in a Midwestern oriented league that may carry the same name but has only one other all sports member - Temple - from the region and still does not have a TV contract in basketball."

8,500 must be a low for a game at the Garden versus the Conmen.  Must be in the new/improved garden's decision to up market food and beer offerings; no more PBR and pork rinds so Conmen supporters boycotted

Know this is a moot point in all probability, but I did not see Sanchez at game. Maybe I missed him.

There two rather chubby Uconn fans to right of their bench in the 100s. When Uconn cut our lead to 7, they were white trashing up the place during the booth review of the Wolf/Sampson incident. They will not be missed.

Just relaying what is being said by people much closer to the situation than you or I. Not saying he will play but there is a decent chance. I don't know what's going on with the quotes here either.

I've been watching St John's for a while now.  I might not have the best memory anymore, but to me that was the worst Yukon team that I can ever remember.  I haven't watched any of their other games this year, but everything they were doing seemed sloppy and outside of a few guys, they looked to have very few scoring options.  People on other forums were talking about Ollie as BE Coach of the Year.  Was it just one game, or does anyone else think they are really bad this year?

I agree with you, dR3w.  I said somewhere earlier in the thread, even when they came back and took the lead, I felt we would pull it out because we were the better team.  I have never seen them look this bad.  They had no inside presence.  I'm kind of baffled as to why Obekpa and Sampson both fouled out.

What was sloppy though?  They took good care of the ball.  They missed shots yes.  Was that them being off or us playing good D?

A little late but anyone else notice that JaKarr, Obekpa and PG4 all got the same haircut. Love the solidarity.

At the beginning of the game they just appeared to turn it over a lot (Although they got better as the game went on).  They only had 20 points at the half.  I recall several passes to spaces where players weren't.  It could be that they were sitting their best player, but In my recollection, they execute very well.  Sure they miss shots, but they always seem to be a well oiled machine.  And we are 20 games into the season.

On offense, last night they appeared to be freelancing.  Perhaps Ollie has a different offensive philosophy, but to my uneducated eye, they just looked bad.  Even their comeback seemed to be triggered by a few hot hands, combined with some awful rotations and mistakes on StJ's part.

I'm not sure this makes sense, but If they weren't wearing Yukon uniforms, I never would have guessed they were Yukon.

fwiw, rothstein still sticks to his guns, that sju has third most talent in big east. He said if live on CBS cable show, inside NCAA basketball after game.
