“@AdamZagoria: Big East deal with Fox Sports is for 12 years and includes all men's & women's hoops & all Olympic sports.”

weird time for this question but what does the amp mean after &? Ive been seeing it everywhere.

The "and" symbol is called an ampersand. Guessing it has something to do with that.

I don't see how anybody can take a look at what has been done with the new Big East and see it as anything but a rousing success in just about every way.  Kudos to the league schools and administrations for getting this done.  Keeping MSG is another massive success despite Newsie's Doomsday prophecies.

They broke away and did it with class IMO.  Something most of the others didn't.

Agree Moose.  I'm very satisfied the way this is working out.  It is a viable league for all sports, with a great TV contract, great schools involved and our conference tourney where it belongs.  All schools like-minded with resources moving forward and commitment to those sports.

Excellent development in a crazy year for SJU hoops. Kudos to all who made this happen. Have to assume Gavitt will be primary candidate for commissioner?

I'm sure your right.  But the shuffling among the top 6 created an opportunity for the 7th conference being ours.  Its kind of like a coordinator in football leaving for another coordinator job can sometimes be met with a look. But a coordinator leaving for HC job is accepted as a suitable step up.

I have a feeling that we will be at 12 in 2014-2015 and something the Providence President said leads me to believe the Big East will have a western division in the future, eventually seeing this as an 16-18 team conference.

BE picked the right 2 presidents to be spokesmen at the conference.  Shanley was great on the background and had a good Jesuit joke re Xav and Cre.  Gtown president also had a sense of our history  and I think his response to FB question was spot on.  Liked the Fox Pres noting that the "new" BE is starting out pretty good with 5 in NCAA and 2 in NIT.  That should help come selection Sunday next year.

God I hope not. Then the conference really isn't a conference anymore.

From the infographic! It has become readily apparent to me that there are waaaay too many schools with the color blue as a primary in this conference.  Only SJU and Providence aren't rocking blue?
