What is tough is that SJU starts and finishes the season on the road. The last game against Marquette no less. It is was it is...

People were crushing Marquette too saying they're not good. Well they are currently in 4th place in this conference.

Great coach and mentally tough team. Like our chances though against them. They shoot worse than us and our guard play is better.  Not a walk over, but another road game we could steal.

Dave if this was last year it would be an accomplishment for Marquette to be 4th in the league but this year the league isn't very good at all and 4th place doesn't guarantee a thing.

Besides Georgetown knocking off Michigan State the other day at the Garden this conference had ZERO good wins and that is a fact.  Big East will most likely put just 3 teams in the tourney this year

Nova Beat Kansas and  Xavier beat Cincinnati. Both top 10 teams, that is just off the top of my head.

Wods you are right about that you cannot take away Nova beating Kansas and Xavier beating Cincy they are both very good wins I heard that on a CBB show after the Georgetown game but obviously it wasn't right.  Nice catch

@ESPNLunardi: FIRST FOUR OUT: St. John's, Richmond, Dayton, Southern Miss (will be First Five Out, including St. Joe's, if Illinois upsets Michigan St).

Interesting, obviously alot can change but as of now they have two .500 teams in Georgetown & Providence in the tourney and us at .500 as the first team out. Maybe its not as tough to get in this year as a big east team as many people thought

G'town beat Mich St but what makes Providence's resume better than ours?

They beat Creighton too, also that double OT loss would loom large.

We should all be rooting for Creighton for the rest of the regular season.  4 of their last 5 are against bubble teams / and all 5 are teams we can finish ahead of in the BE if we take care of business.

@ Marquette
VS SH
@ Xavier
@G Town
VS Providene

I think we slip into the First Four tomorrow. Shocked if we don't.

#52 RPI   http://www.rpiforecast.com/live-rpi.html
#34 KenPom Ranking

Creiighton beating Nova was  huge for us and the conference.  Nova is still #5 in the RPI, but Creighton moved up to #8.  I'm sure they will move from #18 in the polls to somewhere  10-14.  That makes our  marquee win that much better. We need them to win out for many reasons...Nova as well, except against us.  Hopefully Nova stays in the top 10 in the polls.

Beat Butler Tuesday and the RPI will slide into the high-40's., passing the loser of the Baylor-OSU game and a few other teams.
Left on the schedule for us:  #136 Butler, #5 Nova,  #124 Depaul, #41 Xavier, and #76 Marquette.

We need a win against Xavier and for them to stay in top 50.

3 Home wins and split road games puts us in a good spot.  I think 11-7 get us to the 3/4 spot in the league.  If we win one game in Big East tourney we slip in.  Despite all we've done still little margin for error.

Last four byes
These teams are not on the immediate cut line for making the NCAA field, but they are on the bubble for a first-round bye and avoiding the First Four round in Dayton, Ohio.

Minnesota (60 percent)
Oklahoma State (60 percent)
Providence (55 percent)
Missouri (55 percent)

First Four pairings
March 18: BIG SOUTH/Coastal Carolina vs. SWAC/Alabama State (East, No. 16 seed)
March 18: Tennessee vs. Richmond(East, No. 11 seed)
March 19: BIG SKY/Weber State vs. WAC/Utah Valley (Midwest, No. 16 seed)
March 19: Saint Joseph's vs. St. John's (South, No. 12 seed)

LAST FOUR IN: These teams are being squeezed at both ends. They don't want to be caught from behind, of course, but they also want to move up and secure a first-round bye. Dayton is their most likely destination.

FIRST FOUR OUT: No matter how large the tournament field grows, this is always the grouping to avoid. Just remember that, a year ago, three of these four teams would have been on the "Next Four Out" list.

NEXT FOUR OUT: We'll talk about these teams (because we have to), but if your favorite is here, chances are they just aren't good enough. The three additional at-large spots keep them in the conversation, but they are Nos. 73-76 on the S-Curve.
