THAT was your biggest mistake coach?   Really?

Can you imagine if he was coaching in an area that really cared about college basketball?   Our media let's him off the hook so easily.
The sports radio shows in Kentucky or Lousiville would be inciting a riot now.

You realize he coached UCLA right? No imagining necessary.

Sampson and Pointer behind Lavin regarding Lavin's lineup change. #sjubb

I don't understand what that means. They openly expressed support?

Hooper not only shouldn't play- he should nt be on scholarship . Not a big east player

You show a lack of understanding of the game by making a comment like that. Hooper is the best shooter the school has seen in ages and its like he is a robot. He is far from a great athlete but athletes alone clearly don't win basketball games.

Even in garbage time today Georgetown was clearly aware where he was on the court and was hedging to have man near him when they could.

People have been talking about a "roles" for players  - Hooper has a role and he is not being given an opportunity to perform his role. Al
Yes, and he is the only player that prompts an adjustment and causes the opposition to chase him...

This quote concerns me the most "“We’re at a point where sometimes it gets worse before it gets better,” Lavin warned. “Naturally, the sooner the better. But I’ve also coached long enough. … Oftentimes it’s the school of hard knocks.”"

If it gets worse than today he will be out of a job.

UCONN is 0-2, Duke is 0-1, we are in good company. Let's be optimistic and say all of us will make the tournament...Other wise it is a long winter in sports....

He will never get fired.  Come on, you know that.  Only way he leaves prior to contract is if he quits.

Absolutely
Sad, but true.   And coach knows it
Which again makes me ask, where the accountability from Monasch?
Lavin must be the only coach in America who's not even remotely worried about losing his job.   Hell... even Saban knows that a few losing seasons will get him on the hotseat.

Graceful exit perhaps on horizon.

If Lavin had just started Sheed instead of Ndaye I wonder if the backlash would be as bad as it is. Personally I would have been more patient and waited til after we lost a home game to put some blame on Lavin but starting a walkon in a huge game put me over the edge.

Not just starting him, but starting him to begin the 2nd half too!!! And saying his biggest mistake was not playing him more!!!!!!

This is not CYO where you have to play everyone and make the parents happy. THIRTEEN GUYS GOT TIME TODAY. Only two of them didn't play at least 10 minutes.

Think on any given night we could beat anyone or lose to anyone. I would be concerned if we lost to DePaul and Seton Hall to open up Big East play. I had the last two games as losses.

I'm not asking to win them all.   But we couldn't win 1 of Wisconsin, Syracuse, Xavier, Georgetown ?
I could see if we were a little inconsistent ... I didn't expect us to be world beaters.   But where is the upside?

When was the last time we won a game we weren't favored in?   We're not even inconsistent... we're consistently mediocre.  There's a difference.

So if the team is consistently mediocre and you know this, why get all upset with a game or two that you probably expected them to lose anyway?

Because I expected them to win a couple of these games.   I expected us to be a bubble team and sneak into the tournament, not blow the doors off the new league... but be in the upper echelon.   We're not doing that at the moment.
I thought we WOULD be inconsistent.. we would win a couple of big games and lose a couple of big games.   We haven't had nearly enough of the good moments ... and rather than getting better as the season has gone on, it looks like we're falling apart.  That's what's frustrating.
But I agree with what Dave said in the other thread... there's still a lot of basketball left to be played, let's see if they can turn things around.
