I was just looking at Jordan's stats for the season to see how much we will actually miss him. Did anyone realize his +/- in the Seton Hall game was a staggering -23? In comparison, Jamal's +/- in the Seton Hall game was +1. I know this will hurt our depth and make it tough on everyone but Jamal has been great lately. Hopefully he can sustain that play because we will really need it.

I've only read the first page of this thread, so I'm not sure what's all been stated. I'm sure this has been stated, and that is Jordan is a pain in the anus. Another poster and I knew about some complications concerning Jordan a season ago. I'd give Henderson some burn. Deal with folks who'll buy in. Hopefully, Jordan gets his act together.
Gee thanks

On that note, I do believe he'll be back.  I could see him suiting up against Villanova on Tuesday or Providence on the 14th.

Up until this point my thinking was that Lavin had already pulled the trigger on suspending his best player in the past, so what ever Rysheed was or wasn't up to couldn't have been any worse than what Dlo was doing. Now it seems that it has reached a level where lavin feels it is not worth it to continue.

Hey Rysheed, look at what D'angelo took from this, you could benefit yourself by accepting your consequences and fighting your way back into the team.
*wipes ketchup from his eyes* - I guess Heinz sight isn’t 20/20.

And you would accept him with open arms?

This whole thing is a disgrace and it is time for answers. Why does the school and Lavin constantly hide the problems with this kid? Lavin loves to take credit for how he makes these athletes become solid young men and all he has done is hurt this kid. This kid obviously comes from a horrid background but from day one Lavin has babied him (and those in the know really know how much he's given him.) It's way worse than you can imagine). Rysheed needed someone to get into him and teach him right from wrong. Whether you liked it or not, Lavin did that with Harrison and it seems to have worked. It's too late now with Jordan and now the whole team is going to suffer. I'm disgusted by what has been happening with the program lately and quite frankly can't wait for the day Lavin is gone. I was right there as Jarvis destroyed the program and Lavin is getting very close to doing the same. I'm also tired of these wimpy writers. Someone have the balls to call him out and stop being scared of Lavin not answering your questions. They all have pulled the same crap with any of our coaches. Lavin said it best when he stated there is no pressure to win here. The NY media is so soft on these guys and lets them skate through because they use this job as a stepping stone and don't want to turn any feathers. On that note, I hope these seniors rally together and beat the piss out of Butler tomorrow.
The sissyfication of America. You blame the coach here? Rysheed Jordan has been prancing around like an entitled diva for two seasons. It didn't start here either...look at the end of his game against Austin in the Philly public school league...it was disgusting how he acted. This is the only chance Lavin has to have this kid and this team reach the ceiling of play. He selfish play has been killling this team. He had two turnovers that led to open threes against SH and his stupid tech took away a 5-4 possession, led to two made fts by SH, and then a three pointer. That is a potential seven point swing in a matter of twenty seconds. He did his best to hand the Syracuse game away as well. Jordan needs to swallow his pride...fall in line...and get on the same page as the rest of the team. Hopefully we beat Butler handily and improve to 2-0 without him to send him a message he so sorely needs to receive.
Who let him be a diva for two years and gave him a different set of rules to play by? Who didn't notice the traits you saw so clearly in HS? Let me be clear, of all of coach's transgressions I blame him less for this than most people will. Young kids, especially spoiled athletes, can have major character defects that society wouldn't ignore if they were a step or two slower or couldn't put a ball in a net. But they can do awesome things on the field or court, so we brush it under the rug. Certainly not Lavin's fault. Rysheed has been given every chance to turn his life around, and he keeps doing his own thing. But at the end of the day, Steve Lavin is the one tasked with managing the program, and for one reason or another he keeps failing at that. I blame him for the overall lack of control and development. One bad apple wouldn't be his fault, but you can look at this from a number of angles and see how it fits within a larger pattern of disfunction.

First, we all saw the same thing at the end of the game between Jordan and Austin.  We all knew his rep...and we all wanted him in spite of it because of his sheer talent.  His twitter handle is Black_Jesus!
Second, Lavin hasn't been letting him get away with murder--hence all the friction and subsequent incidents.  He doesn't speak to the media, he doesn't start, he's been punished, he's been spoken too.
We would have killed Lavin if he passed on Jordan.  It just got to a point where the kid was doing more harm than good.  +/- of -23 against SH in 23 minutes.  WTF?  He's too talented for that.

Baldi to your knowledge - specifics - what recruits have you heard we lost because of Lavin?

Maybe Dave can update the article on the homepage to Jordan's departure instead of Lavin landing this 4 star stud?? :D
I'm trying to update the whole site which costs $$$. Additionally lost all my writers to bigger and better jobs. Recruited too many Harkless'

Oh, I blame Rysheed Jordan big time. But Lavin has let him get away with whatever he wanted from the moment he signed on. Like Baldi says, where were the other big time programs? Ask anyone who knew Jordan from HS and they won't be surprised by what has happened. Lavin needed to give him this suspension last year. Instead he blew Felix's redshirt and let the kid come back. Anyone who knows how much this kid has gotten away with over 2 years, knew this was bound to happen. Lavin should have brought in another point guard this year just in case but god forbid he went and recruited.
Nova had Ryan Arch so why would they be after Jordan? Pretty bad example.

None. He was not a +/- for 2015 class.

When Lavin suspended Harrison was it for the rest of the season right off the bat, or was it initially indefinitely?

I think it will be additional by subtraction.

With Sampson gone and now Jordan we're definitely getting pretty good. A couple more defections and we'll be ready to contend for a national championship.

That 2014 recruiting disaster is what makes this especially difficult.  If there was even 1 other reliable scorer in the rotation, I'd buy the argument that we will be better off without Jordan.

For those of you who are saying we are better off w/o him, you are going to find out in a couple of hours how wrong you are. We are not a tourney team any longer. Thanks to good start, if we can go 500 in BE we may be able to sneak in, but that is about the best we can hope for.

BTW from what I am hearing no shot he comes back either.

I heard his grandma passed away. Give the guy a break. He needs time to work thru this.  I hope he can enjoy some quiet time and come back when he is ready.

It's sad that there are people within the St. John's basketball program who are saying that it's not for "personal reasons". Why cover up what the truth is? If he's being disciplined say that and move on. It worked for Harrison and it's paying dividends now. The kid is obviously a troubled guy and needs proper direction so state that. Using his family situation as an excuse is wrong.

That's the problem in a nut shell. Additionally we need to stop targeting kids with character flaws. I can understand taking a gamble, but you need to have a back up plan if it doesn't work out.

Unfortunately, there is a better chance you see his Grandma in a SJU inform than him again.
