On conference call Steve Lavin says Chris Obekpa will practice today, but still not sure about his status against DePaul. #sjubb

Steve Lavin said Felix Balamou will continue to start, has been impressed by junior's all-around game. #sjubb

Balamou went 2-10 with 5 points and 4 personal fouls in a 20-point win where we shot about 80% other than him.

This guy has to be trolling us.

He has to be. Amar played better than him last game, and is actually....a BIG!

I thought Felix brought intensity and solid defense when he was in the game. Although he shot a low percentage, his shot didnt look terrible.

I think the fear with starting Amar is he will pickup quick fouls. If CO is playing it's not as big of a deal but if he isn't we will need Amar down the stretch. That said you could start JDR or even Jones for the size. I like Felix in short spurts but not as a starter.

Felix tried really hard. Battled on defense. He hit one jump shot. He missed another by a wide margin.  He was playing the 4 and played admirably . Don't think that is a recipe for success. Amar is really slow. DePaul's big guys seem to fast for him.
I assume that Amar out plays Christian jones every day in practice . That's a bad job by the staff and an awful job by jones. Physically jones is better then both these guys. Sad that he can't beat out either .

Allow me to explain.
We are due to go on a futile run to get back on the bubble. Lavin will keep running Felix out as the world's smallest center so that when we go on a mini streak, people will praise Lavin for benching the evil Obekpa and starting the hard working Felix.
This will go by the wayside when a bigger team takes advantage of us and goes off on a 26-5 run to start the game.

Chris' uncertainty is all apart of the chess match between Lavs and Purnell, creating new defensive schemes and the different lineups Depaul will have to now prepare.

Let's be honest though, we need Chris in the paint all night with the likes of Tommy Hamilton, Robinson, and Stimage coming at us. Amar and CJ are going to see extended minutes bc of this tandem.

Mike Henry creates mismatches for us, I think that we might have to put Dom on him all night. He's very nifty in the post and has deceptive rebounding instincts for someone only 6'5.

The two teams combined athleticism is going to make for some high intensity defense, I expect a grudge match tomorrow night, but also think we will have a nice home court advantage and a rowdy crowd to boot.

Dee and Sheed must stay hot, and hopefully Phil's jumper is on point bc when he is on fire at Carnesecca we are very hard to beat. Containing Billy Garrett and keeping him from penetrating the lane is vital.

Yes, no doubt they're working up the box and 1 to neutralize Balamou.

I'm concerned for you QM.   When this all goes up in flames I hope you can get the therapy you need to clear you of what must be a thorough brainwashing by your employer.

Just know the jungle community is here for you bud.

Is there any strategy or boardgame you would pick Lavin to beat another Big East coach at?
monopoly? candy land? Hungry hippos?

I was thinking Pictionary, but then I couldn't recall him even once drawing on his chalk board during a time out that I could either see at a home game, or was televised for an away game.  So now I'm beginning to wonder if he can draw at all.

SL is probably really good at the games everybody wins at... like turning a jack in the box.   I've seen gorillas use one of those at the San Diego zoo.

C'mon there's gamesmanship here. Granted Dee's injuries and Sheed's immaturities lead to our January demise, but bottom line is that our opponents' blueprints had our number for about four weeks. Suddenly within the past 7-10 days, Dee looks like his pep is back, Sheed is averaging 19-4-4 while shooting 50% from 3 and the field, and we dominated a team that previously beat us with a brand new scheme that fell out of the sky. The goal is to offset Robinson, Stimage, Hamilton, and Henry for atleast the first couple of stanzas, and let our guards go to work inside of their gym. I like it.

Desco, my man, we're the first team out of the tournament as of tonight. A victory Wednesday night and a huge win at Xavier would firmly put us off the bubble for the next 2 weeks. Lavs is about to make the NCAA 2/5 years, postseason 4/5 years, 20 win seasons 3/5 years, and sign another top10 recruiting class. I can't wait to revisit with you this April after our BET and Tourney runs.
