The curse of Tiny continues--first Sina; now Gibbs and Mobley.  He's done a lot to help SH be a better team ;)

I'm surprised at Sterling. I've known him and Gibbs boys for a long time and this was out of character. On the other hand Obekpa throwing bows I'm not surprised because he routinely started physical altercations in high school. I was skeptical of recruiting Obekpa at first because of this. He's actually been a lot better than I thought he'd be.

One thing of note, Arch is pesky man. He'd get under my skin if I was playing against him too. He's annoyingly good. Obviously this isn't justification for violence. Lets just hope Seton Hall doesn't show up to play St. John's. They always seem to be at their best against red and white.

No way he's playing on Saturday.  Fortuna continues to smile upon us.

People are going way overboard.  He didn't stab the kid.  One game suspension at most and move on.  I'm sure Arch did something to deserve it anyway.

CO's elbow was worse and he got nothing from the league.

Look at this post from seton hall board

https://setonhall.rivals.com/showmsg.asp?fid=330&tid=179031311&mid=179031311&sid=959&style=2

Watch the zags replay before you throw players under the bus. Gibbs was trying to hit the ball and Ajou's head caused him to hit the kid in the head. No way he could be that accurate with a deflection. Gibbs tried a second earlier to punch at the ball but got air.

He does have a point.  The arm clearly deflects off of Ajou's head.  Still should be a one game suspension as this is basketball, not football, and to the best of my knowledge you're not allowed to throw a punch/elbow to cause a fumble in basketball...Also, Gibbs publicly apologized to the universe and Arci for his actions, so clearly his intentions were not strictly to jar the ball loose.
*Maybe he gets two games?  One for hitting Ajou and one for hitting Arci?  :P

There is no point that he has. Gibbs meant to hit him. He apologized for it.

The elbow/forearm clearly deflected off of Ajou's head.  That's a fact, not conjecture, so he did have a point.  The only conjecture is what his intentions were, and like I stated, the apology would seem to be an admission of bad intentions.  Either way, as they say in football, it wasn't a "basketball move," and he should still be suspended.  Although, seeing as how Obekpa didn't get suspended, I won't be shocked if Gibbs isn't either...

I think CO would have been suspended if the cameras caught the full elbow. To my knowledge the cameras barely caught it so the extent of the contact wasn't seen. I still think CO should have been suspended.

Gibbs was center frame. Ajou's head didn't move a bit so it might just be the angle. We will see but the Gibbs play is getting a lot more pub than CO's elbow.

CO's elbow was disgusting but how is it worse than this? Kid was  defenseless on the ground and he dropped a fist to his face. Both should have been suspended but Gibbs is worse

At this point I don't care whether he plays or not.  Obviously they are a better team with him, but if we play our game we should win either way.  Seton Hall played probably the best game of their season against us last time.  We are due to beat them by a good margin.

I care if he plays, but that's not how you want to win. If Seton Hall falls apart, and loses out on the rest of the season, finishing with 5 BE wins, this w will mean very little. That said, we can't afford another loss to them so if he doesn't play, it probably helps us a lot. I say probably because we sang this song when Whitehead was ruled out for our game in Newark.

We need wins. RPI is good. Would be fine if seton hall doesn't win another game .

CO lined him up all the way down the court and with a running start elbowed him in the head.  This was a scrum and Gibbs didn't even wind up.

Is there any videos or vines showing Chris' elbow? I missed the first half of that game and never saw it on highlights or online.

I hope his younger brother (T.J.) is a great kid too and comes to St. John's.

From all indications Sina is a good kid too and was very close with Gibbs.  If the rumors are true it doesn't say much for a certain SH freshman.  Props to Lavin for keeping the fleas out of the bed in this case.

@jeffborzello: Seton Hall announces it has suspended Sterling Gibbs two games.
