Call it the truth or whatever. That's probably subjective. He's petty and childish. I figured you would vouch for him, as you basically act the same way on Twitter.
Our former head coach was paid extremely well and was quite absentee from doing his job, so yes I will take shots. Amazing how a guy thats in the Basketball HOF and had an extended career in the NBA doesn't feel he's "too good" to be an active presence but the former coach who doesn't have nearly the background or successes as Mullin would hardly step foot on campus. So yes, I will continue to take shots at someone who got paid well and didn't give a very good effort.
I'm not defending Lavin but its been very overblown about him not hanging out at Christ the King open gyms. While I think you do have to make appearances from time to time to show face to battle public perception, I've also seen coaches live in open gyms and never get recruits. I think Lav should have sensed the backlash and just spent some time there to keep wolves away.
I think people just need to move on. Lav did a lot for program and he also missed a lot of opportunities too. It is what it is.
I'ts not just about him attending local games or open gyms. It's about the fact that the guy was rarely on campus during the offseason and became very disengaged in terms of going out and recruiting even outside of the tristate. He even COMPLETELY skipped out on a full April live recruiting weekend 2 years ago.
Was that when he was in Italy recruiting Amar? Mussini?
No, I believe this was the April before that. Mjdinkins, he was posting on twitter and instagram that entire weekend about how we was hanging out with his wife and/or mom in SoHo. It was documented on here and/or redmen as well.
Sorry, I don't recall. Maybe, it happened, but I don't remember. I may try to find it at a later date. The only thing I recall he caught flak for (on the boards) was skipping out on the Peach Jam to recruit Amar. Folks was bitching about him not going to see Briscoe and Diallo (the former told Lavin he was coming, while KOB stated the latter probably was headed to St. John's had Lavin been retained) that particular week. All that is insignificant as it didn't happen and Lavin is no longer coaching St. John's.
Hey! I love the new staff, and love how they're getting out there. Applaud 'em for doing so. Look at the potentially bright future. The past is in the past, and if it's not hindering you, then what's the deal of constantly bringing it up. He's gone now. Otherwise, it just comes off as trivial and childish. That's just how I view it. But it's your prerogative.... Oh, well.
