Great game!  Was there with 3 of my kids - wearing Johnny Jungle sweatshirts. :) Sat among many SU fans-who at least in our area - were well mannered.  Had a great time at game and we all had smiles on after game - and still do!

Over the years we have had many great wins, maybe not so many in the past twenty years.  While none of us knows how the team will fare for the rest of the season, today was one of those very special victories.

We were significant underdogs, playing in our home arena that sounded, initially, more like the Carrier Dome South.

Coach had the nerve to invite some of the best 2017+ players in the area for what could have been a demolition of our squad.

And the results were awesome. Not only did we put a beating on the Orange, but we did something we rarely have done over the past few years, played a steady game from beginning to the end.

The recruits had to be impressed with not just the win, but the excitement and Coach's in-game strategy.  This was a fun outing.

And it comes at a great time with a certain swing man recruit coming by in a few days to catch a few games.

You know what really got to me was our Italian PG/SG stating in a post game interview that it was the best game he ever played in. He was so excited.

Yes, one game does not make a season, but this game had many ramifications, on a number of levels, and they all were very positive.

Thank you Coach and Team!

And Paultzman, you were right. I did see three Magi heading east through desert here, heading to NY.  They stopped for some water from my well. The first one was bringing a gift of  a win over Syracuse. The second Magi is bringing good news regarding a certain freshman PG becoming eligible.   The third Magi was wearing a STJ tee shirt over a Hutchinson shirt.

Boy, what a game!

Do the Magi like German food? :)

Now that you mention it. One of the Magi asked if I knew of a  restaurant out here that served a good taco wiener schnitzel with a side order of spatzle chili. Those darn camels spooked my horse.

I am sure the news of the game will beat Matt to Germany. What a special victory!

Can't believe we have not one but two players with 3'lo range.  Both Italians no less.

That Yakwe block was awesome.

Can't believe I missed it.  It must have been a ton of fun.

What percentage red to orange in the crowd

65-35 orange

Thanks MM.

Sell ur tickets. This will be the worst game of the year. It's going to be at least 70-30 cuse fans. This will not be fun.

Not to be a downer, but Syracuse isn't good at all.

I love this guy.
I am happy we won. I was not confident after the niagra game. If you say you were, either you are lying or a fool.
Syracuse was not good. What is your point? I also made some very positive posts. Which you have not highlighted.
After last years win I was over joyed as a fan. I am always happy to beat Syracuse and I wish I was there to see it. Inam more excited for the season then I was starting the day. Our staff prepared our guys much better then Syracuse . Since you did not high light all of my posts I assumed Syracuse and every team we play foward would pressure us, wear us down and tire mussini out. Syracuse didn't, that is why they lost. I believe if they did pressure us they would have been more successful . I am very happy we won. I am hoping Lovett is eligible and Felix and is back soon. we need guard help. I love u to.

Bottom line is no one thought Syracuse stunk when they got ranked after beating #18 UCONN and #25 Texas A & M in that Bahama classic.  This is a great...and surprising (to me)...win.  The next game may make me want to throw my TV out the window...but this was very satisfying.

Great game review, Dave,  (Sorry for your loss.) As you've said, consistency going forward has to be our next breakthrough.  We will have days when our 3's aren't dropping, but it seems as though Yakwe, Sima, and Jones will give us some workable options.  Be wonderful if we get Lovett soon, along with a healthy Ellison.  The guys are settling in to their roles, and this is a great win for a young team, but we all have to remember that we're still the same team that was embarrassed by Fordham and were life and death with St. Francis and Niagara.  Still going to be some rough nights in the Big East but also the potential for more upsets by an improving team.  Great to play so well in MSG in front of so many blue chip recruits.  This win was way more than the most ardent fan had any right to expect.  Guess there wasan element of looking past the Niagara game, since they certainly were focused on Syracuse.

Also bless up to the Knicks for switching back to the blue paint from the orange. Not only do I appreciate it as a Knicks fan but also as a SJU fan for not having to see that disgusting color all over the floor.

Doesn't anyone own a DVR?  I'm saving it so I can watch it in the off season too.  :)

I watched last year's game over 100 times. I've already watched this one 4 times. St.John's could put it on DVD and sell it at games.

Watching the replay now. Didn't notice this yesterday live but in the first 4 min Christian Jones took a charge. He was laying on the floor and Amar is on the bench yelling at Durand to go over and help him up. Little culture things like this are huge!

Realized two things.
1. If the acting cuse coach is supposed to take over for Boheim, this win is more significant for recruits. Mullin and company are the coaches for this program for the forseeable future. SJU was prepared and  cuse is battling NCAA sanctions, lost two in a row against the Big East, and the heir apparent to Boheim did not have his players prepped and did not adjust well against SJU. Recruits can clearly see the new culture and plan with Mullin, cuse has had issues since joining the ACC and their future is murky.

2. Does SJU winning  mean Fordham is the best basketball team in the city and state?
