Staff Evaluation

I went to a game his Junior year against Gtown and Geno stole the ball at half-court and raced the other way for a breakaway  except that somehow not only did the Gtown player beat him down the court but so did two other Gtown guys and DJ Kennedy. He turned a breakaway into a disadvantage. Was actually an amazing feat of unathleticism the likes of which I have never seen before.

Geno phoned it in that season. He was actually a senior, and by then he'd had enough.

2.  The law school intramural competitors are a very sad group of athletes generally.  I was playing RCF/2B/3B but had to permanently switch to 1B because we didnt have enough guys/girls who could consistently catch the ball, so not quite how it worked out for you old chap.  Not tooting my own horn by any means, but yes I catch the ball regularly and not only if it is thrown perfectly to me, which was the condition nearly everyone else on our team except our CFs and SS needed.

In NY, I agree.   I think Cardozo had multiple mutes on their team.
But I played a team from UVA once that had better prospects than the Dominican Republic.   They were all 6'4, had cannons for arms, and raked like Paul Oneil.

The high socks made him appear slower than he really was.

Just watched Xavier vs. Providence.  Xavier player slammed the ball down exactly like Mussini did in final minute during PC's comeback (last minute), and nothing was called.  Refs control who wins these games.  Raftery did both games, but pretended he did not know what fans were booing about.  There was no mention of their game with us, and how Mussini was charged with a tech for doing the exact same thing.

Had the same thing happen in my game yesterday.  Both my partner and I whistled for an immediate "T".

Any slower and he would have been going backwards

Good thing for you as you got to come on these boards and pretend you were a ST John's fan and antagonize an entire fan bases for hours every day by defending Norm

Take him in a heartbeat for this team. Why not? A point guard for a team that is barren of point guards?

Geno is stronger than Mussini, and he pushed people around his first three years here, but he was too was slow to get by anyone with his speed. He shot the ball poorly, but in fairness to him, he learned how to find cracks in the defense and he did try to run the offense. He would have been considered a very good college player had he went to Wagner or St.Francis.

I feel like Geno got what he could out of his natural ability. Even as a freshman, he was a more well-rounded player than Mussini. Overall freshman seasons aren't that far apart. Mussini is the better scorer, but Geno was more well-rounded.

Honestly at this stage with 7 wins I think it's just better off agreeing not to evaluate the staff and call it even between the people who love Mullin and think he's doing fine and it's the players fault and the people who agree the talent isn't there but the coaching on the floor isn't there either.

Recruiting blocks in place for a few players this year and players coming next year

I'll just bite my tounge and hope for better things next year instead of thinking about 5 or so of the worst losses I have ever seen as a fan out of 15 or 20 have happened this year

I'm with you mj.  Mullin is a great representative of our program.  He's a cool guy.  He's local.  He's a Hall of Famer. 

My great desire to see him succeed is clouding my judgement.  I can't figure out why, when we have two of the best shooters in NBA history coaching, these players can't even hit layups.  I hit layups regularly...and I stunk.

The players who don't break their asses over the summer should be treated like they're walkons...with negligible playing time.

Agree

Criticizing  the staff is absurd.  No one can but together a d1 team in a major conference in a few months.  They have recruited some players who will be excellent down the line; the foundation is there and the house will be a queens McMansion by year 3.

Criticizing the current staff may be unfair. But they are getting the big bucks. Constantly stating that we have the hardest working staff in the country and the future is guaranteed seems just as silly . No fan wants Mullin to lose. We are all rooting for him.

We all want Mullin to win. Like Paultz says ,the only thing we have now is hope. To early to evaluate. Even if we loose all our remaining games, it is irrelevant in the long term. Next year, however, they will be fair game.
