Would like to see Jones stay but if he leaves to get more minutes somewhere else then good for him. He has offensive talent and on a mid major school could put up some pretty good numbers and he probably is weighing trying that and staying here and being a role player and leader for the underclassmen. Jones always gives his all and another off season under Mullin and co and maybe he looks even better next year. We will find out very shortly it seems.

Jones reminds me of Friend I have. In little league he was great because he was bigger, faster and stronger then Everyone. In basketball he was unstoppable . The first time I beat him in 10th grade I remember being really excited. By 12th grade when we all caught up to him physically he still could occasionally score because he was athletic, but his team always lost because he had no clue what to on defense. He didn't box out. His team always lost . As we played pickup often in college we never called him, because even though his skills were fine. He didn't know how to play. I don't know what the word is for Christian jones, but he doesn't know how to play .
Anthony Glover wasn't great, but he knew how to play . I never want to Watch Christiian jones play again .

Same must be said for saint johns basketball because he is faaaarr from the worst we have.

The guy had 29 pts and 7 rebs in a BE tourny game. He would be on the team beating your pickup team by 35.

Rather than killing Jones, why not accept possibility he wants more playing time in his last season & realizes he won't get it. Beating him up is unproductive.

What was Dom Pointer before his senior year? David Cain? Just because there are holes in his game doesn't mean he can't address them. Remember, this was like his freshman year. He rode the pine when we had 7 players, and no size. I completely agree that he's clueless, but we have to remember there was no point guard on this team. Not even a back up point guard. I don't think any STJ's team has ever played a full season without at least 1 point guard.

And in regards to Anthony Glover, I liked him, but I think we forget that he would often put his head down and dribble right into a statue. Guy would pick up 2 fouls in the first 3 minutes of a game constantly. A good player overall, but far from perfect. Thing about Jones that we're not discussing is that he didn't start playing organized basketball until he was in high school. I could be wrong, but I think he may have only played 1 or 2 years before college.

If he leaves, he leaves. We wish him well, and we move on. But seniors are seniors, and without him, our most experienced players are guys who barely have any experience.

I Wasn't trying to beat him up. I just don't think he is a wining player. I wasn't comparing him as player to me. I was comparing him as a player to other big east players. Yes he is better then me. Yes he can score and accumulate stats . But in 4 years he didn't contribute to many wins.

He played 300 minutes in two years and red shirted a third. Hard to contribute to many wins from the bench.

Agreed. He probably didn't play because he wasn't good enough. The improvement may not have been dramatic, but Alibegovic and Balamou played over him last year, and this year, he was better than them. Balamou had his chance, and he did practically nothing with it.

Yeah, because his coach was a chowderhead. Either the chowderhead recruited a bad player or didn't play a good one. Which option do you prefer.

If they want to experience the NCAA tournament it's in their best interest to transfer. SJU is years away from making the tournament in my opinion.

Lavin played 6 guys last year because he was coaching for a contract and probably his reputation and career. He would have played five but Jordan made that impossible.

And the irony was that in the end it wasn't his coaching that got him fired. Last year, the coaching was pretty good.

And what schools can Jones and Amar transfer to that are close to guarantees to go to the NCAA T? Ask Monmouth how easy it is. They are not exactly big time transfers that are going to transfer to Duke or similar type schools. More likely going to transfer to get playing time and let chips fall where they may. Now a Yakwe could probably go to a school with great chance to make some tournaments.

St. John's top transfer targets are Arizona guard Justin Simon and Michigan State forward Marvin Clark Jr., per sources. #sjubb

Doesn't have to be a team with a great chance, just a team with a chance. Unfortunately SJU has little to no chance to make the NCAA tournament the next few years.

I didn't understand his lack of playing time being that we didn't have too many bigs this year.   Would of much rather him jacking up shots than Durand johnson at least he would of been developing for next year.  Just seem  like a good fit for Mullin and Mitch Rich.  Is he going pro to Europe ?  Maybe he goes to Michigan and John B turns him into  Kevin Pittsnogle!

Attack basketball, pressure defense, 40 minutes of hell ... Early on it might be 30 minutes of hell, then 10 minutes of what the hell are you doing?"

I thought I was the only one who had him as my favorite player.  A tamer version of Psycho T but I loved his exuberance.
