Tony Bennett is a good coach but his teams have never been able to consistently score. That's what has burned them in all of their tournament losses

He's a great coach.  This 3 year run by UVA in the ACC was phenomenal.  But he is going to have a hard time sleeping tonight.  Feel bad for Brogden, great player and even better kid.

But they couldn't beat a last place BE team ;)  Would love to see them reach the pinnacle only to lose to another BE team.

In his DNA

Funny, the best scorer he's had since he's been there he pushed out the door. Even though I hate Syracuse, I would never root for Tony Bennett to win

Want to know how good a coach Tony Bennett is?  3 years at Washington St, 3 straight winning seasons, 2 seasons of 26 wins and NCAA bids and a National Coach of the Year.

Go look at the 7 seasons at Wazzu since he left for UVA.  Then you will realize how good a coach he is.  That job is near impossible, I would argue almost as tough as Rutgers in terms of power 5 jobs.  And he won there and fairly big.

Also wins at a school with very difficult academics-UVA.

Shocked. Out of necessity Jim B let the kids loose & press rattled an experienced team. Amazing!

It was a tremendous decision. He did it against Gonzaga, too.

I don't think anybody is arguing hes not a good to great coach

Some people are raggin on him for losing this game.  Sometimes the other guy is good too and sometimes the other team has a guy making play after play that no matter how good  a coach you are you get beat.

He was out coached. No doubt about it.

No team or coach is perfect in college basketball. Bennett has built a mini dynasty at a tough place to win but that doesn't change the fact the main flaw of his teams have been getting consistent scoring which has done them in in their tourney losses over the last few seasons.

Bennet was totally out coached In the second half. As much as I hate jimmy, he did a great job. But it took years for jimmy to get here. He under achieved for years in the 80s.  But again, the NCAA is a joke. Jimmy was suspended 9 games this season means nothing as they are now going to the final 4. And unc is most likely there too!

Nova-please win it all!

How do these teams act like they've never seen a zone defense before? He does the same sh*t every game, every year....trap short-corner and coffin corner every time and occasional half-court traps.

SJU really needs to go to a 2-3 next year. How much better of an athlete can Cooney really be over Mussini?

Man Syracuse what a rally.

How about Boeheim sticking his middle finger up at the NCAA?
He should be suspended for that.  ;)

Big deal, we beat DePaul this year for our only conference win. Let's see Bennett match that.

You realize that you're saying Boeheim's underachieving is better than anything Lou Carnesecca accomplished here? SU had NBA teams in the 1980s. They were a force.

This might be the weakest field of teams in tournament history.  The 85 St. John's team would beat Cuse by 20 just like UNC will do this week.  A freshman Lydon on Bill Wennington.  Cooney trying to close out on Chris Mullin (with a three point line!).  The Truth crashing the weakside glass against that zone.

Well it's official.  We are NOT New York's team.
